LUKE & TASHI’S

GLACIAL GRIND
ADVENTURE & LIFESTYLE DOCUMENTARY
(1 X 60 MINUTE)
A 1,300 km ‘Ripstik’ adventure around Iceland with scrapes, hiccups and exhilaration. Two
young Australian men at speed, on a FIRST EVER feat of endurance that says much about
GEN Z’s special relationship with the planet, commentating with infectious enthusiasm
and an undimmed thirst on how to put the world right.
ELEVATOR PITCH

A POSITIVE SPORTING FEAT -

JUST WHAT THE WORLD NEEDS.
‘Doc & Marty,’ ‘Butch & Sundance,’ ‘Elwood & Jake’ on
Ripstiks. It’s impossible to imagine two more enthusiastic
ambassadors than Luke Daly and Tashi Struk - even for people
unfamiliar with Ripstik culture. Iceland’s dusky landscape is lit
up by their personalities and longtime friendship. An hilarious
romp that will have the viewer smiling and grinning. The
ultimate beneficiary of their grand effort? The Australian mental
health charity, Top Blokes Foundation.
As political passions rage in the world around them, the
talented young ‘Ripstikers’ fly above it all. Rising above old
mind-sets and engaging with the world through skill and
open-hearted camaraderie. Hot-blooded men in a cold-country
climate. A surreal vision of two young men flying high and
free. Luke and Tashi become idealistic symbols of two young,
soaring natures.

A FILM FOR ADVENTUROUS

HEARTS WHO WANT TO SEIZE LIFE
& UNDERSTAND WHO THEY ARE.
If you thought post-Covid that the age of adventure was over,
think again. Told with verve and passion and above all a huge
amount of fun, this is the real thing. In a madcap escapade
to raise a bundle of money for charity, Luke and Tashi fly from
Sydney to Iceland on a one-off feat of adventure - proving that
the instinct to care still thrives.
The over-arching theme is people welfare - isolating the greedy
in the world and making the viewer feel like a member of the
wise and good. Their skill on the Ripstik will pop Icelandic eyes
and drop Icelandic jaws. Their gift is that they are taking us with
them. Spoiler alert! Not everything will go to plan and over
the 1,300 km journey. Friendship, obsession and doubt are in
perpetual motion.

ACT ONE - SYDNEY

THE TEAM SET OFF

ON THEIR ODYSSEY.
The tone of GLACIAL GRIND is established early. Visceral and
evocative, capturing the tribulations, resolve, and tenacity that
underpins this odyssey. The tone emphasizes the unyielding
discipline, fervor and devotion necessary for them to execute.
As the team stands on the brink of departure, Act One portrays
the daunting reality of being the first to achieve this feat. The
Act concludes on the night before they depart. All the planning
complete - they must now commit to their goal of being the
first to Ripstik around a country. The anticipation is shown

e y
through fast cuts of the bubbling and intimidating volcanic

landscapes which lie ahead of them.
ACT TWO - ICELAND

STEEP MOUNTAINS &

UNPREDICTABLE TERRAIN.
On the first stage of the odyssey, they face unforeseen
challenges, relying on the power of friendship. Battling
unpredictable weather, they showcase unwavering
determination and belief in their abilities. As they grind on
with undented humour, our GEN Z boys break into lively
conversation at speed, as rapid as their pace. They become hi-
speed philosophers. Whilst shooting the breeze, they analyze
the wider world with its apparent insanities that to many young
minds, is hard to grasp.
Each evening is a pitstop with lightheartedness and intimacy
as the two men share reflections on the day. Iceland’s celestial
skies promote their conversations. We are aware of the young
men’s capacity to notice details and appreciate beauty. They
touch the limits of what they don’t know in these moments.

ICELAND
Every day they push their Ripstiks to the limit, meeting
fascinating characters along the way and engaging
with their hosts.
ACT THREE - TRIUMPHANT COMPLETION

THE ADVENTURE HAS

STOPPED BUT IS NOT LOST.
The team approach their last leg facing final demanding
challenges that test their endurance. Overcoming their
weaknesses and exhaustion, relying on the skills and bonds
they’ve developed with one another over 1,300 kms to complete
the mission. They reach their milestone moment. The film slows
and concludes on a profound note, showcasing the team’s
triumphant completion of their Ripstiking adventure. Through
their experiences, they have become symbols of inspiration,
reminding viewers of the limitless possibilities that await those
who dare to dream. The rewards that come from never giving up.
In a final scene, on the porch of Luke’s home back in Sydney
- the attraction of the stars draws them into another deep
conversation. They compare the sky events over their heads,

remarking on a new celestial map in the southern hemisphere. A

arch across the sky. The expedition has been a triumph.

MATERIAL GENERATED FOR THIS HOUR
LONG DOCUMENTARY, RECORDED
BY THE FIVE PERSON VIDEO SUPPORT
TEAM LED BY JOSH CARROLL.
Original photography will make up 95% of this film including
set piece interviews as the producers invite commentary from
Icelandic locals. Iceland is very familiar with the winter sports
arena at the highest levels, however Ripstiks are new thing
there. Heads will be raised and the team will jump on every
opportunity to record public opinions about the sport
coming to Iceland.
Interviews with family and friends will take us behind the
scenes, profiling the two protagonists of the film from DAY
ONE. Video diaries help the viewer form a broader picture about
the two lead personalities and the charity they aim to benefit.
