1 INTRODUCTION
This report presents the results of concrete mix design carried out for Tripoli Third Ring
Road Project. Authorization to proceed with the necessary work was given by O.H.R.N.
JV ( (ائتالف افرع الشركات المصريةin Jun. 2023.
The purpose of this report is to determine the quantities of concrete ingredients, using
local materials, to achieve the specified characteristics of the concrete to be used for
different types of structural works.

3 CONCRETE CHARACTERISTICS
The concrete characteristics shown in the table below are project-specific and were
provided by O.H.R.N JV. QA/QC department.
4 MATERIAL
4.1 CEMENT
Specification EN 197-1
4.2 AGGREGATE
The aggregate was delivered in 3 fractions named 14/20 mm ,10/14 mm and 0/5 mm.
Each size fraction was individually screened in accordance with BS 812-103.1 and then
the fractions were combined with the fine aggregate as shown in table 4.5 to obtain
combined grading complying with the grading of All-in aggregate of nominal size 20 mm
as per BS 882 specification.
In addition to sieve analysis test, physical and chemical tests were carried out on the
coarse aggregate. Table 4.1 shows the summary of results together with specification
limits.

Fine aggregate (natural sand) was delivered by O.H.R.N. JV from the available local
sources and was screened in accordance with BS 812. The grading of the natural sand
was complying with an upper limit of grading F which may enhanced if needed.

Physical and chemical test results of fine aggregate are summarized in table 4.3. The
test reports of the fine aggregate are presented in Annex A.
Coarse and fine aggregate were combined in mass percentages indicated in table 4.4 to
obtain combined grading complying with All-in aggregate of nominal size 20 mm as per
BS 882 specification. The combined grading is shown in table 4.5.

7 RECOMMENDATION
• A batch trial at the project site should be carried out to ensure that the concrete properties
meet the project requirements.
• Adjustment to mix quantities should be made according to aggregate moisture condition
and actual density of the fresh concrete.
• Any type of admixture other than SikaPlast-800 RM should be High-range water-reducing
admixture and time retention confirming ASTM C494 type G or F and the new dosages
should be determined based on a batch trial mix.
• the dosage of the admixture can be adjected at the site according to the required
workability.
