The last revision was made in 1993, and the revision at this time is made to conform to the revised rules for layout of JIS documents and to cor- respond to the revisions of JISs of steel products. 1 Scope ‘This Standard specifies the classification (mechanical properties and chemical com- position) for deposited metal obtained from the submerged arc welding material (here- after referred to as “deposited metal”) to be used in the welding of carbon steel and low alloy steel (high tensile strength steel, heat resisting steel and atmospheric cor- rosion resistant steel). 2 Normative references The following standards contain provisions which, through reference in this text, constitute provisions of this Standard. All of the designated classifications are as given in table 6 to table 8. The coding method when the combination of wire and flux to be used is designated together shall be as given in figure 2. Note *) Distinction of the yield point or the 0.2 % proof stress shall be clearly indicated in the test report, ete. 5 Quality 5.1 Mechanical properties of deposited metal ‘The tensile strength, yield point or 0.2 % proof stress, elongation and Charpy ab- sorbed energy of deposited metal, when tested according to the method of 6.1, shall comply with table 6 to table 8. 5.2 Chemical composition of deposited metal The chemical composition of deposited metal, when tested according to the method of 6.2, shall comply with table 3 to table 5. 5.3 Hydrogen amount of deposited metal In the case where the symbol of major applicable steel grade is H (high tensile strength steel), the hydrogen amount of deposited metal, when tested according to the method of 6.3, shall comply with table 9. Table 9 Hydrogen amount of deposited metal Unit: ml/100 g of deposited metal ‘Symbol of minimum tensile strength | Hydrogen amount of deposited metal 62,70 8.5 max. 80, 805 6.0 max, Except above ‘No regulation 6 Test method 6.1 Tensile test and impact test of deposited metal The tensile test and the impact test of deposited metal shall be as follows. - PROTECTED BY COPYRIGHT 8 Z 3183 : 2012 The items other than a) to h) shall be according to JIS Z 8111 a) The wire to be used for the tests shall comply with the requirements of JIS Z 8851 or that equivalent thereto, and the diameter of wire shall be 4.0 mm or 4.8 mm. However, other diameter than these may be used upon the agreement between the purchaser and the manufacturer. b) The flux to be used for the tests shall comply with the requirements of JIS Z 3352 or that equivalent thereto. It shall be preliminarily dried under the conditions recommended by the manufacturer. ©) The material of the test plates used for the tests of deposited metal shall be as given in table 10. In the case of using after buttering, the material of the test plates shall be S400 of JIS G 3101, SM400A to SM400C or SM490A to SM490C of JIS G 3106, or the rolled steels having the equivalent mechanical properties and chemi- cal composition thereto. ‘The rolled steels having the equivalent mechanical properties and chemical com- position of the test plates in table 10 may be used. In the case of the diameter other than 4.0 mm or 4.8 mm, welding conditions shall be upon the agreement between the purchaser and the manufacturer. It may be taken from other position equivalent to the parallel portion on the extended line of the ten- sile test piece. b) The analysis method of deposited metal shall be according to any of the follow- ing.
