General:
The Kenya National Age groups swimming Championships is a Long Course
competition which is governed by the World Aquatics (WA) swimming
technical rules under the stewardship of the Kenya Aquatics (KA).
The Competition is open to all registered swimmers in Kenya domiciled in and outside
Kenya and non-Kenyan swimmers who meet the Minimum Qualifying Times(MQTs)
standards for the Championship.
Selection:

The times achieved at this meet will be uploaded to the National Database for
selection to various international tours within the specified competitions that fit into
specific qualifying periods

Foreign Swimmers:
Foreign Swimmers must provide a letter from WA affiliated Federation confirming that
they are a registered member in good standing.

Pool:
8 lane 50m competition pool
6 Lane 25m Warm-up/Cool-down pool

Sanction:
The Meet is approved by the Kenya Aquatics and World Aquatic
Swimming Technical rules apply.

Registration:
All Teams representatives and/or coaches are required to register their club at the
registration desk to receive accreditation.

Accreditation:
Teams will receive one coach accreditation per 10 swimmers entered. Additional coach
accreditation must be requested prior to the competition and granted at meet
management discretion subject to a charge of ksh 500 per additional accreditation.
Only accredited participants will be allowed on the pool deck. This includes swimmers,
coaches, officials, chaperones, team support personnel and photographers.

Technical Meeting:
Team Managers and Coaches will have an online Meeting with the Organizers on
Wednesday 1st November 2023 at 20.00hrs (A Google link will be shared with the
teams taking part.) and at 08.10hrs on Saturday 3rd November, 2023at the
poolside. All Team Managers/Coaches must attend the Manager’s Meeting.
Following the start of the Technical Meeting, email scratches will not be accepted
and a meet scratch card is required for any scratches made after the Thursday
meeting and will be charged.

Meet Qualifying Standards:

Meet Qualifying Standards in Long Course Meters (LCM) and Short Course Meters
(SCM) are attached. The times must have been achieved in a sanctioned meet not
earlier than February 1st 2022. All times achieved outside this qualifying period will not
be accepted. Swimmers may qualify in single age categories but will compete in
combined age groups as defined in this package.
Proof of Time is required with entry submission from sanctioned competitions or
events.
Any non-validated times in your meet entry submission report must be proven by the
meet entry deadline. Meet Management may challenge any entry time before or during
the competition.
It is the responsibility of the club to prove any entry times if requested. Unproven entry
times will be declined.
Foreign swimmers and foreign-based swimmers are required to provide Proof of Time at
registration at the latest.

Entry Process:
All entries must be submitted via Zip files and must include a proof of times PDF to
kenyaaquatics@gmail.com
SWIMMERS ARE LIMITED TO 8 EVENTS AND MUST MEET MQTs IN ALL EVENTS
ENTERED.

Following the meet-entry deadline, all participating Teams will receive an email invoice
for fees owing. This invoice must be paid no later than 2nd November 2023 for the entries
to be considered final. Please note the team that enters the swimmer is responsible for
paying the swimmer's entry fees.

No team will be allowed to participate before the Meet Entry fees are received for all
swimmers.

Entries must be submitted using the athletes' best LC or SC time as per the Meet
Qualifying Standards criteria. Estimated times or NT will NOT be accepted.

Changes and corrections may be made up to the meet entry deadline without penalty.
Following the meet entry deadline, changes and corrections to entries may only be
made until the start of the Technical Meeting and subject to the above fines. After the
release of the Psyche Sheet, no new entries or changes in events entered shall be
accepted.

Entry Fees:
Ksh 600 per individual event
Ksh 1000 per relay event
No Show Fine:
Which must be paid before the swimmer and or team can be allowed in their next event.
Ksh 1000 per individual event missed
Ksh 2000 per relay event missed per team
Note:
NO DECK ENTRIES WILL BE PERMITTED

Warm up: 7.00 am – 8.15 am

Start: 8.30 am

Doping Control:
Drug testing will be conducted by and will follow the Anti-Doping Agency of Kenya
(ADAK) policies and procedures.
All swimmers competing at the meet are subject to ADAK doping control testing
Swimmers are notified by a Doping Control Officer (DCO and are required to sign a

 notification form.
A Doping Control Chaperone will accompany the swimmer until released by the DCO.
Upon notification of testing and if necessary, the athlete may notify the DCO if they are
competing in another event in the same session. In such cases, the DCO may direct that
testing be carried out later in the session, provided a Chaperone accompanies and/or
observes the Athlete at all times and until such time as the Athlete reports back to the
Doping Control Station for testing.
Photo identification is required for doping control. Coaches are asked to instruct
athletes to bring photo identification that includes the athlete's date of birth to
competitions (i.e. driver's license, school identification, passport, etc.). Any minor
swimmers who will be required to take doping control will be required to identify a
coach or Team Manager to sign the notification form.
Rules:
The Competition will be conducted under published World Aquatics Rules and
Regulations.

Seeding:
All events will be seeded from the slowest to the fastest. Results will be posted in the
respective age categories.

Protests:
All protests must be submitted within 30 minutes of the publication of the results of the
event. A fee of Ksh 5000.00 must be paid before a protest can be accepted. The Meet
management committee shall constitute a Jury of Appeal to consider all protests. The
decision of the Jury of Appeal shall be final and binding.

Scratch Rule:
Coaches are requested to submit any known scratches to the meet management prior
to the start of the technical meeting via email kenyaaquatics@gmail.com. Following the
start of the Technical Meeting, email scratches will not be accepted and a meet scratch
card is required to be filled and submitted
Late Scratches will be subject to the No Show penalty (with the exception of medical
scratches). Fine must be paid to Meet Management before the swimmer competes in
any other events.

Timed Finals:
The meet will be Timed Finals for both individual and relay Categories.

Official splits:
Must be requested prior to the start of the session. Coaches may be requested to supply
timers for the Official splits request.

Swimmers must have achieved 10yrs of age as of the effective date to be allowed to
participate in the meet.
Relays:
Age categories for relay events:

15yrs & Over
The names must be received in the correct following order for the relays on the
prescribed forms and must be submitted one hour before the preceding session in which
the relay is to be swum. This will be the confirmation of the relay entry. Only swimmers
entered in the competition may swim in the relays.

Results:
The full and final results will be available via email from the Competition Secretary after
the competition. Signed results will be available and posted at the competition venue
and on Meet Mobile (unofficial)

Awards:

Medal ceremony will take place during the breaks. Medals to the top 3 finishers.
Over team trophies to the best Girls and Boys teams, 2 nd runners up and 1 st
runners up.

Marshalling:
Swimmers must pay attention to Marshalling calls over the P.A. Swimmers must report
to the marshalling area 15 minutes before the start of their event. Once marshalled,
swimmers should remain in the marshalling area until their race is called. Relay teams
will not be marshalled if the 4 swimmers are not physically present.

Media/Photographers:
Members of the Media will have free accreditation. Only accre dited media
person nel and p hot ographers will be allowed on de ck subject to reasonable
restrictions to ens ure co mpliance with safety protocols and guidelines.
