Case #1
Project type: Migration

Client: A pharmaceutical company

Team: There is a small non-experienced development team, who is mostly busy with support of
existing systems. You are a single BA.

Time limitation: 7 months

Stakeholders: scientists, department director

Background: The company uses a 3d-party solution for storage animals’ samples data for last 30
years. The vendor announced service retirement for the next year. To not lose the data, it should be
extracted and migrated by the end of the year.

 The system vendor is needed to be involved in the data extraction process.

 The old system uses mostly free text field for all the data, without validation or any structure. In
different countries, users used different patterns for samples data, different approaches of a
storage description, and different input languages.

There are a couple of market solutions that potentially fit the goal. These solutions need to be
investigated to pick the best one, and integration requirements prepared based on the results.

Case #2
Type: Produce development

Client: A pharmaceutical company

Stakeholders: scientists, middle management, vivarium director, animal research associates, vivarium
technicians, veterinarians, system administrators

Team: 4 Senior BAs, 2 UXs, 8 Senior Devs, 3 Senior QAs, PM

Goal: Optimize the vivarium processes with replacing an old system and expanding the functionality.

The Product Owner from the customer side has tons of ideas for innovation, and really excited about
the new product.

Time limitation: 3 years from initiation till the product launch.
