SUBJECT: NATIONAL WATER COMMISSION AND MIYA WATER JAMAICA WATER

CONSERVATION VIDEO CHALLENGE

_____________________________________________________________________________

Dear Colleagues,

The Ministry of Education and Youth uses this medium to advise its stakeholders that
the National Water Commission (NWC) and MIYA Water Jamaica, a prominent global
utility company, will be launching a Water Conservation Video Challenge under the
theme "Be the Change you want to see in the World," in schools across Jamaica. This
groundbreaking initiative aims to foster a heightened awareness of water conservation
among the youth while nurturing their creativity and engagement with this vital
subject.

The NWC/Miya Water Conservation Video Challenge targets students 8 to 16 years

and encourages them to creatively showcase their knowledge of water conservation
using a 60-seconds video demonstrating their ideas in the form of a song, poem, dub,
or skit for a chance to win tablets and a laptop.

This should showcase practical water conservation techniques applicable to their daily
lives, while harnessing the popularity of the TikTok platform to engage the younger
generation, effectively amplifying the reach and impact of this campaign. The
challenge forms part of the organization’s Public Education Programme, which has so
far engaged hundreds of students in the Portmore community.

Guidelines:

• Students aged between 8 and 16 years, whether individually or in groups, from

schools across the island, are eligible to participate.

• The challenge will remain open until October 31, 2023, and students are required
to submit their videos in MP4 format via email to miyajamaica@miya-water.com.

• Videos must not exceed 60 seconds in length, adhering to portrait mode, and
maintaining a high-quality production standard.

• All submissions must include the student's name, age, school, and grade,
accompanied by parental or teacher endorsement.

• By submitting their videos, participants grant NWC and MIYA permission to utilize
the content for promotional purposes.

Challenge Prizes:

In recognition of the participants' dedication and exceptional contributions, a range

of enticing prizes has been arranged. The top three individual videos with the highest
viewership will each be awarded a tablet. Meanwhile, the victorious group will receive
a laptop for the entire class, along with the prestigious addition of a Water Tank for
their school. The winners are scheduled to be publicly announced in November 2023
via various traditional and online media platforms.
