IoT-Based Air Quality Monitoring e,

System Using SIM900

P, Lavanya and I. V. Subbareddy

Abstract For several towns and cities, air quality (AQ) is a topical issue that directly
influences climate and citizen's health. Environmental monitoring and scrutiny play a
vital role since they aspire and contribute to public hcalth. The fundamental purpose
of this paper is to present a novel ecological monitoring system using a wireless
sensor network with ESP8266 and SIM900. DHT 1l and MQ 135 sensors' sensed
data would be directed to NodeMCU (microcontroller). The application discussed
in this paper is sensor integration to an MCU with an ESP8266 Wi-Fi module and
SIM900. Arduino IDE is used to program the microcontroller unit and integrate it to
the Blynk server to monitor air quality and othcr atmospherc parameters. This paper's
proposal can help people know real-time air quality data through a Web browser.

I Introduction

The IoT has emerged as a system of interconnected computing devices, mechanical

and digital machines, objects, animals, or people that are provided with unique iden-
tifiers and the ability to transf'er data over a network without human intervention [,
21. A rapid change in IoT technology has changed how we live, and IoT has become
a pan of our lives [3]. In the era of lnternet usage and automation of appliances and
sensors, we can communicate and manage things with various network topologies
and software. In recent years, the world has seen a signi6cantly greater spectrum
of gadgets connected to the network, such as household appliances, automobiles,
