1.0 IP Board Installation

1.1 Installation Procedure

This procedure describes how to install the Image Processor (IP) board.

NOTICE The IP board requires system software version 4.0 or above.


1. Power off the SONOLINE Elegra system and remove the rear panels to access the
PCB card cage.
2. Locate slot 17 (the IP slot) of the lower card cage. It is one slot to the right of the Scan
Converter (SC) card.
3. Examine the empty slot. If in place, remove the two jumpers installed on the edge con-
nector.

4. If in place, remove the paper tag that states Remove Jumpers Before Installing IP
Board.
5. Verify the small toggle switch to the right of the edge connector in the UP position.
Place in the UP position if installed.

! CAUTION Before installing the IP board, inspect the pins in the backplane connector. Straighten all
pins that are bent before installing the IP board.

6. Insert the IP Board into slot 17.

7. Install the card cage cover.

1.2 Operational Test

NOTICE For system software version 4.0.100: If the IP script detects a firmware mismatch, the correct firm-
ware will be loaded. With GDUI version 06, the script will report a Fail after the firmware is loaded.
If this happens, exit DUI, reboot the system, and perform the IP test script again.

To test the IP board:

1. Turn on the SONOLINE Elegra system. The following message should be displayed:
System Error Cycle Power
Contact Service if Problem Persists
2. Enter DUI with the laptop computer.
3. Select scripts from the main menu.
4. Select ip for the IP board retest procedure. This will run a 20 minute test to check the
IP board and surrounding equipment. The script will open a journal file in the directory
/gdui/ssnxxxx, where xxxx is the system under test.
5. Examine the IP journal file for failures after the IP script is complete.
6. If all tests pass, exit from DUI. Reboot the system to verify the system boots properly
and can image. Testing is complete.

NOTICE If you are installing the IP board to run the SieScape option, verify the operation of the SieScape
option.

1.3 Removal Procedure

Follow these steps to remove the IP board:
1. Turn off the system and remove the rear panels to access the PCB card cage.
2. Locate the IP board in slot 17.
3. Remove the IP board.
4. Insert a jumper onto pins E62 and E63 and a jumper onto pins E67 and E68 as shown
in Figure 1.
5. Install the card cage cover.
6. Turn on the SONOLINE Elegra system. The following message should appear on the
monitor:
System Error Cycle Power
Contact Service if Problem Persists
7. Enter DUI with the laptop computer.
8. Select sys and run the hardware configuration update (hw).
9. Cycle the power to the system to ensure that the system initializes normally.
