LESSON PLAN IN PRE-CALCULUS
Grade 11 – Amazing
May 25, 2016 11:00 – 12:00
Content Standards: The learners demonstrate an understanding of key concepts of circular functions, trigonometric
identities, inverse trigonometric identities, inverse trigonometric functions and the polar
coordinate system.
Performance Standards: The learners shall be able to formulate and solve accurately situational problems involving
Circular functions.
I.OBJECTIVES:
1. To differentiate degree measure and radian measure of angles.
2. To convert degree measure to radian measure and vice versa.
CODE : ( STEM_PC11T-IIa-2 )

II. SUBJECT- MATTER:

Topic: CONVERSION OF ANGLE MEASURE
Reference: Algebra & Trigonometry by James Stewart et al.pp.448-450
Materials : Paper Strips, Manila Paper, Pentel pen
Strategy: Differentiated Instruction

III. PROCEDURE:
A. Review/ Motivation:
 How do you make your life meaningful?
( Give Strips of Paper , for the students to write theirs answers, then ask 3 to 5 students
to read in front and explain briefly. )
 Ask students to give the meaning of degree measure and radian measure of angles.
 Let students differentiate degree measure and radian measure of angles.
( Degree measure of angle is denoted by the symbol (0)and 10is equivalent to a rotation of
1/360 of a complete revolution about the vertex while radian is a second way to measure
angles ,symbol (π), One radian is the measure of the central angle θ that intercepts an arc s
equal in length to the radius r of the circle; algebraically means θ = s/r where θ is measured
in radians. (Note that θ=1 when s=r).
B. Activity:
“MAKING LIFE MEANINGFUL” (Divide Students into 4 groups)
 1st Group is tasked to give the MEANING or define: CIRCLE, ANGLE, DEGREE, RADIAN,
POSITIVE ANGLE, NEGATIVE ANGLE.
 2 Group is tasked to DRAW a Circle and identify the center, radius & diameter.
nd

 3rd Group is tasked to LOCATE: 45degrees, 90degrees, 135degrees,

180degrees and 270degrees
 4 Group is tasked to describe the relationship of degree and radian measure of angles.
th

( Process on how to change degree to radian and vice versa.)

C. Analysis:
( Let the group leaders to report the OUTPUTs)
Question: How to convert degree to radian and vice versa?
D. Abstraction:
 RULES
π
 To convert degrees to radians, multiply the given degree by .
180

180
 To convert radians to degrees, multiply the given radian by .
π
D. Application:
 DRILL : Board Work
 Convert degree to radian and vice versa.Note the first 2 nos .are done for you:
1.) Express 600 in radians
π
600= 60( )rad =60π/180rad (reduce to lowest term) = π/3
180

2.) Express π/6 rad in degrees

π/6 rad =( π/6)(180/π)=180π/6π (reduce to lowest term) = 300

3.) 5π/6= 6.) –π/4=

4.) 3π/4 = 7.) 1200 =

5.) 2100= 8) 150 =

IV.EVALUATION: Written : 1/2 CROSSWISE

Direction: Convert degrees to radians and vice versa. Show your solution. Encircle your final answer.

1.) 1250 = 2.) 5400 = 3.) -2700 =

4.) -π/6 = 5.) 9π/4 = 6.) -7π/4=

V. Assignment:
Identify on how to illustrate angles in standard position and coterminal angles.
