Aims and Objectives of IST Debating Society

1. The main aim is to make the debating society as diverse as possible.

2. The purpose of the society is to encourage critical thinking among its
members while honing their public speaking and argumentative skills via
competitive and formalized debating.
3. We will also make sure that both the older members and the newcomers can
improve their debating skills in a professional environment and feel
welcomed in the community.
4. The Society aims to include everyone from all year groups to participate in
debating since it is useful for students with any field of interest as
communication skills are very important in every field of interest.
5. Along the 2022/2023 academic year, debaters will listen to more
experienced debate team members’ workshops and debate increasingly
challenging motions.
6. The goal is to hold as many show debates as possible, where the society
members can observe experienced debaters in action.
7. Another aim is to collaborate with other societies and organize events
together so that our debaters also have team management skills.
