Historical relic site for Youth Volunteers of Company 915

About 5km south of Thai Nguyen city, the historical relic site of the Youth Volunteers Company
915 is located in Gia Sang ward, Thai Nguyen city. This place wrote the immortal epic of 60
young volunteers of Company 915, Team 91 North Thai.

On Christmas Eve 1972, it ignited the flames of hatred for the American imperialists' invasion of
the "iron land", prompting the people's determination to fight from the rear. Luu Xa became a
place associated with the fighting history of the youth volunteer forces, a symbol of
revolutionary heroism in the socialist North.

The 915 Youth Volunteer Company was established in June 1972 under Team 91 in Bac Thai
province, with the task of repairing and upgrading National Highway 1B, the section from Gia
Bay bridge, Thai Nguyen city to La Hien commune, Vo district. Chew. After that, Company 915
moved to be stationed in Linh Son commune, Thai Nguyen city, serving traffic on route 16A
from Hang pagoda to Trai Cau. This is the route to transport weapons, food and goods donated
by brother socialist countries to Vietnam. With this important position, the US imperialists
regularly bombarded our aircraft to cut off our cargo transport artery. Despite witnessing the
damage and casualties of American bombs and bullets, officers and members of Company 915
always maintain the spirit of "living by the road, dying unyieldingly".

Faced with the situation that nearly 20,000 tons of food and aided defense goods are still in the
center of Thai Nguyen city. If not cleared in time, destroyed by American bombers, the loss will
be enormous. Recognizing the extremely urgent requirements and tasks, officers and members of
Company 915 volunteered to do the task. In the early morning of December 24, 1972, under the
command of Vice Captain of Team 915 Nguyen The Cuong, 66 officers and members of
Company 915 urgently took on the task of loading and unloading goods.

At dusk, the backlog of food and goods at Luu Xa station was basically cleared, and the whole
unit had not had time to have dinner when 6 groups of B52 strategic bombers and US tactical
aircraft attacked. into the key area in the industrial area south of Thai Nguyen city (where there is
a dry port of Luu Xa station and the Iron and Steel factory). At the signal, officers and members
of the 915 Youth Volunteers, the Vice Captain of Team 91, and 02 storekeepers entered the
bunker. But the unjust bombs dropped from the B52 aircraft of the US imperialists took the lives
of many people, including 60 officers and members of the Youth Volunteers Company 915, Team
91 North Thai. The sacrifice of 60 officers and members of the Youth Volunteers Company 915,
North Thai 91st Team was the biggest loss in the rear of the youth volunteer forces during the
resistance war against the US for national salvation.

In recognition of the heroic martyrs of young volunteers, on the occasion of the 63rd anniversary
of the founding of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (March 26, 1931 - March 26,
1994), Thai Nguyen Youth Union issued Actively implemented the construction of the memorial
stele commemorating the young volunteer martyrs of Company 915. The construction was
completed from the voluntary fund contributed by the youth of Thai Nguyen city with an amount
of more than 100 million VND. . The project was inaugurated on March 25, 1996.

Artifacts on display at the relic are aimed at recreating the difficult lives, arduous battles, and
heroic sacrifices of 60 young volunteers.
On April 28, 2009, the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam signed Decision No.
613/QD-CTN conferred the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces on Company 915 of the
Youth Volunteer Team. 91 Northern Thai. On December 18, 2009, the Ministry of Culture, Sports
and Tourism issued Decision No. 4698/QD-BVHTTDL on the ranking of a National Monument,
a place to commemorate the Youth Volunteers of the 915 Company who died at Luu Luu. Xa

In order to honor the officers and members of the Youth Volunteers Company 915, in 2018 Thai
Nguyen officials and people actively implemented the project of restoring and embellishing the
relics of the 915 Youth Volunteer Company. , The relic area was expanded from 1.1 ha to 4.75 ha.

Documents and materials at the Exhibition House

In order to serve the people and visitors from all over the world to offer incense to commemorate
60 young volunteers at the relic site, Thai Nguyen Provincial Museum has diligently collected
and displayed nearly 350 artifacts, documents and materials at the Gallery. displayed in the relic
area to recreate the difficult life, arduous struggle, and heroic sacrifice of 60 young volunteers.
The documents and artifacts have created great emotion for the martyrs' relatives and visitors.
The relic of the 915 Youth Volunteer Company is a place for the people of Thai Nguyen province
and tourists from all over the world to express the morality of drinking water, remembering the
source, repaying gratitude, giving credit and gratitude to the surrounding Youth officers and
members. The 915 Company heroically sacrificed for national independence and freedom of the
Fatherland
