CONS SEX EDUC.

1. Can hurt the religious beliefs of the students

The Catholic Church opposes sex outside of marriage and fears sex education will increase
sexual relations. Church leaders have said that you should be taught about intimacy primarily by
your parents. In this responsibility, parents are encouraged to teach about sexual intimacy
honesty and plainly to help their children avoid serious transgressions. Sex was part of God's
good creation (Genesis 1:31). Sex is designed to provide pleasure and satisfaction (Song of
Songs 4:10). Men and women are both given the gift of being able to experience pleasure and
delight within marriage.
The Church teaches that using artificial contraception is wrong because: it is against 'natural
law' it breaks the natural connection between the procreative and the unitive purposes of sex.
Religion plays a significant role in individual lives, and research indicates that religious
commitment and participation in religious activities result in sexual abstinence (Juping 191).
Religion can, therefore, be seen to positively impact sexual attitudes and initiation among the
youth. Sex education, thus, undermines the influence of religious and moral values in guiding
young people in matters of sex.

2. Guardians can react negatively (cristine)

Parents think that sex education could indeed corrupt the student’s moral standing and incline
them to engage in sex. This assumption is supported by Vuttanont et al. who revealed that sex
education programs give students information that may result in sexual ideas and
experimentation among some students.

3. Controlling the classes can be very difficult (miley )

Controlling a sex education class can be a very tricky situation. Young students do not
necessarily want to maintain discipline; the subject might be embarrassing to them, and they
might get overly excited.

The students can resort to laughing and passing inappropriate comments, creating an
inhospitable environment for the sensitive subject.

4. Teachers are not always properly trained (luiza)

This is a common occurrence where an educational institution, introducing sex education

classes instead of hiring specialists, delegates the responsibility of teaching the courses to their
pre-existing staff.

Inadequate training in the subject can lead to the young students’ knowledge about the subject
being improper and unfinished, defeating the whole purpose of the classes.

5. This can lead in other ways ( samantha)

Since sex education is provided in a value-neutral environment, the youths lack guidance on the
matter and are left to do whatever they want with the information provided.
