I chose the education sector as one that must be invested upon and improved in terms of ICT here in the
Philippines. I choose this sector because education is an important factor in the development of our
country. Not only that our world is seeking and heading towards the direction wherein ICT and/or
Technology is vital and imperative, be it in one’s career, hobbies, school, and day-to-day life. ICT has
invaded and transformed many aspects of our lives to the extent that we live in an environment that is
dominated by technology which itself is consumer-driven (Semenov, 2005). No matter how we perceive
its presence, there is no denying that it is an important part of our lives and that it is here to stay. In
fact, according to (Information and communication technology (ICT) in education, 2021) “Schools use a
diverse set of ICT tools to communicate, create, disseminate, store, and manage information. In some
contexts, ICT has also become integral to the teaching-learning interaction, through such approaches as
replacing chalkboards with interactive digital whiteboards, using students’ own smartphones or other
devices for learning during class time, and the ‘flipped classroom’ model where students watch lectures
at home on the computer and use classroom time for more interactive exercises.” Especially since we
have seen how the pandemic has affected us, shifting classes from onsite to online, in which those with
no technology capable to do so and yet are digital illiterate find it quite hard.”

I agree with the same statement from the other that

“digital literacy is being built through the
incorporation of information and communication
technology (ICT) into schools.” Not all are given the
privilege or the availability of gadgets which is all the
more, harder for ICT to develop in school. That is why
ICT in the education sector needs to be improved. It
Equips students in their future careers. Personalizes
training and learning approaches. Drives down costs
in the long run, and brings more learning
opportunities. Boosts our teamwork and
communication of information.

In conclusion, “ICT promotes the culture of learning

by sharing experiences and information with others.
It has developed technology literacy among students.
It supports activities involving information (Kaur, 2021).” ICT in the education sector needs improvement
because education is a powerful tool for our children and teenagers which are the future of the country
thus, for Philippines to succeed in its development, investing on to our education system and improving
it not only in ICT, but in its structure as a whole, will help us reach our goal as a country which is to grow
and develop resulting to a enhance and improve quality life for all citizens.
