THE IMPORTANCE OF TAKING BREAKS

INTRODUCTION:

To stay healthy and productive it’s important to take regular breaks,


breaks are a chance to get away from our desk and do something else.
Getting some movement, fresh air, and a change of scenery is refreshing and
helps us be more productive when we get back to our work.(Study Breaks:
How to Rest Productively). Indoor gardening is an activity that I enjoy alot
outside of my studies and work. Gardening is the perfect way to keep fit at
home. Getting engaged into the garden, growing plants in small pots and
taking care of them is very relaxing. Indoor plants are good for our mental
health · (Journal of Health Psychology), gardening is a great stress reliever.

FOCUS AND PRODUCTIVITY ARE ENHANCED BY BREAKS:

Growing indoor plants reduces stress, fosters healing, increases focus,


productivity, and creativity. Focus and productivity are enhanced by breaks.
According to the article, " Taking frequent breaks prevents the brain from
burning out too quickly and resets cognitive functions, increasing motor skills,
retaining information, and being more able to spot patterns and draw
conclusions. Making your study breaks productive is a fireproof way of
achieving just that. " (Felix Baues, 2022, Productive Study Breaks).

I know that when I take small breaks when studying or working on


tasks, my concentration and productivity are improved.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITY DURING BREAKS TO REDUCE SEDENTARY


BEHAVIOR:

Working in the garden, like digging, lifting, raking, and planting, all
produce movement that is good for reducing stress levels and improving
physical fitness. The article emphasises the value of physical activity during
breaks to reduce sedentary behaviour and offset the harmful effects of
prolonged sitting. Breaks boost physical health and avoid burnout. Personally,
I've found that taking breaks to stretch or go in my plants helps me feel more
energised and delays the development of burnout.

BREAKS HELP THINK MORE CREATIVELY :

Breaks help people think more creatively and solve problems.
