Paw Coaster- PDF Crochet Pattern

Abbreviations:

● dc = double crochet

PAW COASTER
Rnd 1: Make a MR. Ch 2. Do 16 dc into the MR. Sl st into 1st dc.
Rnd 2: Ch 1; Into same sp do a sc; in next sp do (1 hdc, 2 dc); in next sp do 2 trc; in next sp do
2 trc; in next sp do (2dc, 1 hdc); in next sp do a sc. Into the next sp do (1 hdc, 1 dc);in next sp do
(1 dc, 1 trc); in next sp do (1 trc, 1 dc); in next sp do (1 dc, 1 hdc); in next sp do 1 sc. In next sp
do (1 hdc, 2 dc); in next sp do 2 trc; in next sp do 2 trc; in next sp do (2dc, 1 hdc); in next sp do a
sc. Sl st in 1st sc. Cut the yarn.
Rnd 3: Using the white yarn, insert hook into 1st sc, grab white yarn, ch 1. Do 1 sc into 1st, 2nd,
and 3rd sps; do 2 sc into each sp for the next 5 sps; in next 2 sps do 1 sc into each; next we will
do a decrease st using the next 3 sps: *insert hook into next sp and pull up a loop; repeat from * 2
more times, you should now have 4 loops on your hook, yarn over and pull through all 4 loops.
Do 2 sc into each of the next 6 sps; next we will do a decrease st using the next 3 sps: *insert
hook into next sp and pull up a loop; repeat from * 2 more times, you should now have 4 loops
on your hook, yarn over and pull through all 4 loops. Do 1 sc into each of the next 2 sps; do 2 sc
into each of the next 5 sps; do 1 sc into each of the last 3 sps. Sl st in 1st sc. Fasten off.
Rnd 4: In Rnd 3, we made 2 decrease sts. Find the 1st decrease st; once you find the st you
should see 2 sc sts in front of it; insert your hook into the 1st sc, grab the pink yarn and ch 2; do
2 dc into same sp; do 3 dc into next sp. Skip the next 3 sps and into the 4th st, do 3 dc; do 3 dc
into next sp. Skip the next 4 sps, and into the 5th st, do 3 dc; do 3 dc into next sp. Skip the next 3
sps and into the 4th st, do 3 dc; do (2 dc, 1 hdc) into next sp. This creates the 1st layer of the toes.
Rnd 5: This rnd will make the toe pads larger. Turn your work around so that the back of the
paw is facing you. We will be working the sts from the back. *Into the 3rd st from hook do 3 dc;
do 3 dc into the next st. (Notice that there are empty spaces in between the 4 toe pads), sl st into
the empty sp. Repeat from * 3 more times. For the last toe pad, after you have finished the dcs, sl
st into the next st (the hdc st). Fasten off.
Rnd 6: White border. Insert hook into the sc under the toe pad on the right side (shown in
picture), grab the yarn ch 1. Next, into the ch 2-portion (shown in picture) of the toe pad do 2 sc.
*Next do 1 sc into each of the next 6 sps (represented by red arrows in pic).

1st Toe Pad:

Next we will do a trc. Once you are at the

bottom of the toe pad, yarn over twice and
insert your hook into the decrease st and
the next sc on the base of the paw. Then
continue with the trc. This creates the
spaces in between the toes.
2nd Toe Pad:

Do the 6 sc to make the border for the 2nd toe

pad. Once at the bottom, do a trc using the
center 2 sts as shown in the picture.

3rd Toe Pad:

Do the 6 sc to make the border for the 3rd

toe pad. Once at the bottom, do a trc using
2nd sc and the decrease st as shown in the
picture. Finally, do the 6 sc to make the
border for the last toe pad. Then do 2 sc into
the last ch-2 portion (shown in pic) and sl st
into the base to finish!
