Tourette Stigma and

Discrimination Study

Being involved in this important study can help break the stigma
of tic disorders
The 2022 Tourette Association of America Impact Survey revealed the hard truths of Tourette Syndrome.
Bullying, discrimination, physical pain, and social impact are all too common in chronic tic disorders. We
need to learn more so we can help break the stigma. Participate in our study to understand how people are
treated and regarded because of their tic disorder so we can find ways to prevent it.

Who can participate?


- Persons with chronic tic disorders, ages 8-30
- Supporters of persons with chronic tics (parents, caregivers, partners, spouses, significant others)
- Providers (doctors, APPs, therapists, social workers) caring for persons with chronic tic disorders
- Advocates for persons with chronic tic disorders (patient support group or advocacy group representative)

What is involved?
- Screening assessment to verify eligibility for individuals with tics
- 1-2 interviews
- Providing feedback
- Questionnaires
- All visits will be in person at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist or through secure video conference

Participants will be compensated for their participation
