TEN COMMANDMENTS STUDY GUIDE GRADE 4

1. I am the Lord your God; you shall not have strange gods before me.
God tells us that he wants us to worship only him and no other gods.

2. You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain.
God asks us to speak his name with respect. We aren’t to disrespect his name.

3. Remember to keep holy the Lord’s Day.


God wants us to keep his Holy Day (Sunday) holy by attending Mass and doing
good deeds. It is a day of rest and play – not hard work!

4. Honor your father and your mother.


God tells us to love, respect and obey our parents and those with authority.

5. You shall not kill.


God tells us to respect the life he has given.

6. You shall not commit adultery.


God means that husbands and wives should be faithful to each other.
He tells us to respect our bodies and the bodies of others.

7. You shall not steal.


We should not take, keep or damage what belongs to another person.

8. You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.


God tells us to be truthful.

9. You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife.


God means that a person should not desire another person’s husband or wife.

10. You shall not covet your neighbor’s goods.


God tells us to be satisfied (happy) with what we have. We should not desire
or wish to have what others have.
