WORK METHODOLOGY FOR GTT4, TRANS - AMADI PLANT, RIVERS STATE.

1. 1. MOBILIZATION OF EQUIPMENT/PERSONNEL TO SITE: A vehicle/van

will convey equipment/personnel to site after a thorough inspection on

the vehicle and confirmation that the driver is competent and

acquainted with the operational requirements, standard and safety of

our workers and clients.

2. 2. OFF-LOADING OF TOOLS/EQUIPMENTS AT SITE: Considering the

nature of the job and the means of transport to the work site, there is no

heavy equipment attached or required to be used at the site, so sling belt

and sling wire is not needed during off-loading. The reason being that

all tools/equipments can be manually off-loaded. Meanwhile, to ensure

a safe manual off-loading, instructions and procedures must be

followed to avoid accident. All crew personnel must put on their hand

glove before the operation of lifting to avoid cut from any sharp object.

3. SURFACE PREPARATION: During insulation of the joint or section due

for rehabilitation, the surface cleaning must not be compromised. The

area to be insulated shall be scraped, blown – off, and be free of

deleterious amount of grease, oil and dirt. The materials to be used must

be stored in a dry location and protected from water at all times.

4. CLADDING OF THE PLATE AND SEALS: The proper forward and aft

sealing will be done by removing the stainless plate, remove the

ceramics fibre and cloth and then replaced with second grade 1260 oC.

After the replacement and sealing, the stainless place will be reinstalled

and fastened accordingly.

5. REPLACEMENT OF BROKEN STAINLESS PLATE: The thermal exhaust of

the unit has some sections where the stainless at the side walls are

totally deformed and broken. In order to prevent heart loss to the

surrounding, the deformed and broken materials will be replaced with

5mm stainless plate 402 and stainless bolt and nuts.

6. INTER PHASE OPERATION: To avoid obstruction with other activities at

site, there will be close contact with the site supervisor for up date

information regarding the plant and there should be close supervision of

all site operation.

7. EMERGENCY: Emergency situation is an unexpected event that occurs,

therefore IGASHAR engineering will lash to our client emergency plan,

Hence, in case of any medical emergency related case, please contact

retainership clinic or call 08038842065 for Doctor’s assistance.

8. SITE RESTATEMENT/HOUSEKEEPING: Housekeeping is a system

whereby work are kept neat and orderly, maintaining halls and floors

free of slip and trip hazards and removing of waste material e.g particles

of aluminum, tie wire, ceramics woods, high temperature cloth and

others for hazards free work areas. The site restatement will be

rechecked to ensure that the unit is back and safe for operations.

8. WASTE MANAGEMENT

The waste generated on the course of this work will be segregated

accordingly. The following wastes are generated – off-cut banding wire,
ceramics fibre pieces, cloths, blanket, electrode remains, etc. The
generated waste will be gathered and disposed properly.

TECHNICAL PROPOSAL FOR EXHAUST BELLOW REHABILITATION, AFAM POWER
PLANT, RIVERS STATE.

1. INTRODUCTION: Insulation is the system whereby heat losses to the

surrounding body from the hotter substance are reduced. The system is
therefore covered/lagged with fiber materials which retain the heat and
also prevent the temperature inside from becoming uncomfortably high.
Hence, insulation is carried out in order to prevent surface
condemnation, reduction of heat gain above or below certain
temperature or and reduction of damage to the surrounding and
equipment. Insulation also aids heat conservations, process control,
sound control and also for personnel protections.
2. WORK SCOPE

a. Procurement of Material

b Mobilization to site

c. Surface Preparations

d. Removal of wear and tear stainless plates

e. Removal of the worn – out ceramc wools

f. Replacement of insulation materials

g. Replacement of stainless plates

g. Site restatement, housekeeping and de – mobilization

3. PROCUREMENT OF MATERIAL:

The insulation materials – Inner stainless mesh, ceramic wool, High

temperature cloth, gray cloth(Insulation jacket), insulation flexible wire

and galvanize wire will be procured from a dealer. The ceramic fiber

required for this work is second grade (1260 oCelcius ) materials because

of the amount of heat generated by the system to the surrounding. The

materials to be procured are ceramics fiber, high temperature cloth,

stainless wire mesh, high temperature jacket, etc. Since the aim of the

insulation is to achieve almost zero heat loss to the environment, the

ceramic will be run in stages. Temperature in the exhaust is above

70oF, calcium silicate or mineral fiberglasses with wire mesh are to be

used.
4. SURFACE PREPARATION:

During insulation of the joint or section due for rehabilitation, the

surface cleaning must not be compromised. The area to be insulated

shall be scraped, blown – off, and be free of deleterious amount of

grease, oil and dirt. The materials to be used must be stored in a dry

location and protected from water at all times.

5. BELLOWS: At the moment of the inspection, the bellow insulation

materials are all worn-out. The existing materials (ceramics wool, high

temperature cloth, high temperature jackets, wire mesh etc) will be

removed, and proper surface preparation will be carried out.

Meanwhile, before the worn – out materials will be removed, the bolts

and nuts will be removed. Because of the number of bolts and nuts on

the bellow, pneumatic wrench will be used so that the work will be

executed promptly. The insulation here is a three coating insulation.

The primary (100mm), intermediate (100mm) and the secondary

(50mm) cloths which must be second grade 1260 oC. Each stage will be

wrapped and sown with high temperature cloth and high temperature

stainless wire. Mineral fiber blanket jacket either of stucco or plain

material will be used and will be held in position by the help of stainless

banding wire and 19mm clips. Tin Smith or fabricator will carry out all

the fabrication before the installation.

After the installation of the insulated materials are completed, the plate

holding the bellow will be installed and all the bolts and nuts fastened.
6. SITE RESTATEMENT/HOUSEKEEPING: Housekeeping is a system

whereby work sites are kept neat and orderly, maintaining halls and

floors free of slip and trip hazards and removing of waste material e.g

old ceramic wool, tie wire, high temperature cloth and others for

hazards free work areas. The site restatement will be rechecked to

ensure that the bellow is back and safe for operations.
