The Enterprise™ bed range from Huntleigh Healthcare has been designed with risk management, ease of use and
servicing in mind, and offers unique benefits in key areas:

Falls Prevention: The beds have an exceptional low height of 30cm.

Infection Control: The beds were designed with the aim of being the easiest in the world to clean and
decontaminate.

Pressure Area Care: The patented Bio-Contour® profiling system gives superior pressure reduction.

Service / Engineering: Designed for “pit stop maintenance” – open accessibility means changes can be
carried out in situ within a few minutes by one person.

Moving and Handling: The Enterprise beds are lightweight and very easy to manoeuvre.

 Falls Prevention
Falls prevention is a major risk management
consideration in hospitals today. Patient falls
can cause injuries to both staff and patients.
This can result in physical and psychological
distress and increased costs due to staff
sickness, longer hospital stays and litigation.

The exceptional low height of 30cm

significantly reduces the risk of injuries due
to falls.

Underbed lighting improves patient safety and security by illuminating the bed exit area.

Safety Sides

The gaps in and around the safety sides are fully compliant with IEC 60601-2-38 (the International Standard for
Electrically Actuated Hospital Beds), to minimise entrapment risks. A zero transfer gap when the split safety sides are
folded down allows easier patient transfers.

Infection Control
The Enterprise beds were designed with the specific aim of being the easiest hospital beds to clean in the world.
Open accessibility allows easy cleaning of all areas. They were purposely designed without a base cover to allow
full access for complete decontamination.

Bio-Contour 3-Dimensional Profiling System
The unique patented Bio-Contour 3-Dimensional Profiling
System offers outstanding pressure, shear and friction
reduction. It consists of:
• Curved mattress platform
• Intelligent profiling system
• Unique combination of mattress platform movements

Mattress Platform Movements

The mattress platform of the Enterprise beds mimics the
way a person’s tissues stretch as they move from a lying
to a sitting position and reduces mattress compression
at the seat section. This results in reduced pressure,
shear and friction, improved comfort and improved
postural support.

Curved Mattress Platform

The lateral curve on the Enterprise bed mattress platform Standard Bed
mimics the shape of a person’s back much more closely
than a flat surface. This results in lower pressures in the
middle of the patient’s back, both when the bed is flat
and through all profiles.

Intelligent Profiling System Perimeter

To prevent the patient sliding down the bed, when the
auto-contour button is pressed, on descent the knee-
break stays raised until the backrest is at the same
angle. Both the backrest and knee-break then descend
together until they reach a flat position simultaneously.
The unique perimeter gives total mattress retention,
which secures the mattress in its correct position through
all profiles. Additionally, because the mattress is always
retained in the correct position, correct gaps are
maintained, reducing entrapment risks.

 Engineering/ Servicing
The Enterprise beds have been designed to give very easy access for maintenance and service. Open accessibility
means changes such as actuators, control box, battery and castors/brakes can be carried out in situ within a few
minutes by one person.

The head and the foot end panels, mattress platform and split safety
sides are made from blow-moulded plastic which is easy to clean,
resistant to aggressive chemicals, lightweight and very robust. Easy battery removal/change

Moving and Handling

The Enterprise beds significantly reduce moving and handling risks to staff by safely accommodating heavier patients
and being very easy to manoeuvre.

The safe working load of the beds is 250kg, to safely cater for heavier patients without the need to source specialist
equipment.

 Ease of Use
Ergonomic, Intuitive Controls

The bed controls have been ergonomically positioned to allow easy access by the patient and carer. They have been
specifically designed to be intuitive and very easy to use.

The unique position and shape of the patient control panel on the split safety sides was established following extensive
research into ergonomics and anthropometrics. It stays in the same position relative to the patient regardless of
backrest angle, allowing continuous trouble-free access and ease of use.

CPR

CPR levers are located on both sides of the bed. When

either of these is activated, the backrest lowers manually
and the other bed sections flatten electrically, placing
the bed in a flat, mid-height position suitable for CPR. In
addition, a CPR button on the Attendant Control Panel
flattens the bed electrically to a mid height position.

Stability

The exceptionally rigid construction of the bed means

that the platform is very stable, even at the highest height
with a heavier patient. This allows procedures
to be carried out at the bed’s highest height safely
and efficiently.
