The Association of Energy Market Innovators (BNE) represents the interests of grid-independent energy
suppliers and energy service companies in Germany. Its members who supply around 7 million customers in
Germany, work towards turning the energy transition into a success story, the BNE website states. The BNE is
committed to fair conditions for electricity and gas suppliers, a smart grid infrastructure and a flexible electricity
market design that can incorporate renewable energies. It advocates neutral grids where generation, sales and
grid operation are kept separate. It further advocates high transparancy standards for grid operation.

The renewable grid initiative is a non-profit organisation which promotes the integration of 100% renewable
energy into the European grid. TSOs and NGOs join forces in RGI to support the build-up of a sufficient grid
infrastructure in Europe for both decentralised and large-scale renewable energy sources. The initiative promotes
grid development that is efficient, sustainable, timely, environmentally friendly, and socially acceptable to all
stakeholders.
RGI is co-funded by the European Climate Foundation and Stiftung Mercator. It regularly issues reports on
questions of grid functionality and hosts conferences on this particular topic.
