4. Describe the three theories of Indianization.


Ans:

● Theory 1: (Political)

Indian culture spread to Southeast Asia through aggressive conquest in the


early middle age period. So people followed the practices of their conquerors.

● Theory 2: (Economic)

Merchants spread Indian culture, beliefs and practices by trading with traders
of Southeast Asia.

● Theory 3: (Religious)

Indian culture spread through people like religious teachers and missionaries
seeking to spread their religion to Southeast Asia and spreading Indian culture
as they went.

5. List the five features of the Complex of Angkor Wat.

● It comprises of more than 1000 buildings and it is one of the great cultural
wonders of the world.

● It has five towers of the central shrine which are the peaks of the mythical
Mount Meru, axis of the universe and home of the Gods.

● The temple was dedicated to the Gods Shiva, Brahma and Vishnu.

● It is the world’s largest religious structure, covering some 400 acres and marks
the high point of Khmer architecture.

● It has every intricate wall carving was layered on with gold leaves.
