Sight Words Uno!

MAKING THE GAME: Use card stock and a color printer to print out the game cards on the
following pages.

Kindergarten: pages 2 to 6
Grade 1: pages 7 to 11
Grade 2: pages 12 to 16

This sight words game is played exactly like the game it is modeled after: Uno!
How to play:
1. Shuffle the cards and deal 5 to each player. Place the remaining cards face down in a
pile.
2. Flip over the top card in the pile and place it face up on the table. Have the first player
match either the color or number of that card (the color for each word is random, while
the number corresponds to the number of letters in the word).
3. When a player puts a card down, he/she must say the word that is on the card.
4. Play continues to the left, matching either the color or the number.
5. If a player is unable to match the color or the number, he/she has to draw a card from
the pile on the table.
6. When a player gets down to only one card, he/she must say “Uno!”, while placing down
his/her second-to-last card.
7. If the player forgets to do this and someone else catches him/her, that player must draw
an additional two cards from the pile.
8. If no one is out of cards by the time all of the cards in the pile are picked up, the face-up
cards must be reshuffled to continue play.
9. The first player to play all of their cards wins!

Special Cards:
Draw Two: The next player must draw two additional cards from the pile.
Reverse: The direction of play reverses.
Skip: The next player’s turn is skipped.
Wild: The player chooses what color the next person has to play.
