The Education System in

Indonesia
RIA LESTARI
Education in Indonesia is a national
education system that is systematically
regulated and planned. The education
system must be able to guarantee
equality of education, such as the widest
possible educational opportunities for all
citizens. But in reality, Indonesia still has
problems with educational equity.
Based On Data
The unevenness of Indonesian education has an impact on
PERTAMA

the low quality of Indonesian education. this is shown based

on UNESCO survey data, regarding the quality of education
in developing countries in the Asia Pacific, Indonesia is
ranked 10th out of 14 countries, while the quality of
teachers is at level 14th out of 14 countries.
The Causes of The Low Quality of
Education in Indonesia
Low quality of facilities and infrastructure.
Many schools and colleges have damaged buildings, low
ownership and use of learning media and inadequate use of
information technology.
Low quality of teachers
In general, teachers in Indonesia are less able to perform their
functions optimally, such as matching the field of study with the
lessons that must be given to students
Low teacher welfare
Many honorary teachers receive inadequate
salaries.

lack of equal distribution of educational

opportunities.
Even though everyone has the right to get a
decent education, there are still many people
who don't get this. both equal educational
opportunities and the same quality of
education.
There are portrait of
education in Indonesia. The
difference between education in
remote areas and that in cities is
very visible.
Schools in villages not only
lack good facilities and
infrastructure but also lack
teaching staff, this is inversely
proportional to schools in cities.
Corruption
The budget for the Indonesian education sector is
actually not bad. In fact, the value continues to
increase every year. In 2022 more than IDR 500 trillion.
However, budget use is often not managed
responsibly. Educational corruption still continues to
occur and involves various parties, such as regional
heads, school officials, department heads.
Some of Government Efforts in Equal Education

1. Elementary school to high school

education is free of charge

2. Improving facilities and infrastructure

in schools with APBN subsidies

3. provides scholarships for high achieving

and underprivileged students
