Wastegate Actuator Hoses
Wastegate Actuator Hoses
The question of which pipe goes where has come up a few times and as a true pro I
didn't have the faintest idea so thought i'd better find out.
If you have a BCS (Boost Control Solenoid AKA Cycle Valve) as most new smarts do, you
will notice that there is a maze of pipes surrounding the turbo. So here is a roundup of where
they come from, the colour and where they all go.
First up we will start with 4 pictures that show the starts or ends of each pipe.
BCS = Boost Control Solenoid or Cycle Valve (rear of the TIK pipe plate)
This shows the TIK pipe that joins to the turbo. Note the connector on the back (J).
This shows the turbo inlet rotor housing. Note the brass connector on the front (T).
At the top of the engine you will find this hose splitter, The single connection is (K).
Understanding the pipe colours and routes
Cross reference pictures
Here are a few pictures to show the hoses in situ and their connection identifier.
Follow the directions carefully and it soon becomes clear.
A few Things Worth Noting.
If you have a one port actuator system and fit a five port actuator, the single pipe
attaches to port E.
The box attached to older TIK pipes (labled ports X and Y above) is not needed, it is
just a straight through connection. If you change your TIK and it is missing this box,
just join pipes from G and E together.
Unlike the new pipe layout, all the pipes are black with no colour coding
