LETTER WORD PROBLEM
In this type of questions, we are given a particular word,
and we have to find out the number of pairs of letters in the
given word, which have as many letters between them as
they are in the English alphabets. To understand it clearly,
see the examples given below.
Ex. 14: How many pairs of letter in the word COMPUTER
have as many letters between them as in the English
Alphabets?
a) 1 b) 3
c) 2 d) 4 or more
Sol. 14: Here, in the word, COMPUTER, we have 4
letters(M,P,U,T,E,R) between M and R, which are there in
English alphabets (M,N,O,P,Q,R). Also, we have U and T
together. So, that is one more pair. One more pair is R and
T. as there is only one letter between R and T, which is
same as English alphabets. One more pair is R and U,
because there are 2 letters between R and U, same as that
in English alphabet. So, definitely we have four pairs. (MR,
TU, RT, RU). No need to find the next pairs as the option D
says, 4 or more. And option D is correct answer.
Ex. 15: How many pairs of letter in the word
CONGRATULATIONS have as many letters between
them as in the English Alphabets?

SEQUENCE OF LETTERS OR
NUMBERS OR BOTH
In this type of questions, students will be provided with a
sequence of alphabets, or numbers, or symbols or
combination of all or some of them. Students need to answer
the question or questions based on the given information.
Generally, in this type of questions there are 3 to 4 questions
given as a set. To understand the same, students are advised
to solve the questions given below.

Sol. 16: If we count from right side, we have H as the
18th letter from right side. Now, we want, 3rd letter to its
right, and hence, J is the letter on the position asked. And
hence, Option C is the correct answer.
Ex. 17: Which letter is 5th to the left of 24th letter from
left side?

Sol. 17: If we count from left side, we have O as the 24th
letter from left side. Now, we want, 5th letter to its left,
and hence, Q is the letter on the position asked. And
hence, Option B is the correct answer.
Direction (18 to 24): Consider the sequence given below
and answer the questions given below.

sequence, each of which is immediately preceded by a
consonant?

Sol. 18: In the above sequence, if start from left side, then
we have first vowel as U and before that we have D. so,
that U is our required vowel as it is preceded by D, a
consonant. The next vowel is A but, it is preceded by 4, a
number. Next, we have E, which is preceded by H, a
consonant. So, that is required vowel. The next is I, but it is
preceded by a symbol &. The next is E which is preceded
by H, T which is a consonant. Finally, we have O preceded
by S, a consonant. So, in total we have 4 such vowels
preceded by consonants. So, option C is the correct answer.
Ex. 19: How many such consonants are there in the above
sequence, each of which is immediately followed by a
consonant?
