Growing plants and domestication of animals, especially food for the use of urban and town areas

is called urban agriculture. Urban agriculture includes the activities such as the production, processing,
marketing, and delivery of agricultural products from one place to another. This agriculture in the city is
key for population growth, lack of food stock, and climate change. It is easy to start just to have a vacant
space for the house like balconies, rooftops, container gardening, and aquaculture. Multiple views of a
crop can be cultivated in the least available space as long as you have soil and direct sunlight for the
plants to grow. It benefits all people who plant their own in their respective houses because they are
aware of the food they eat because they are the ones who harvested the crops. It can also alleviate the
food shortages in the places and lessen the problems and makes the community greener.

Here are the lists of urban farming in the Philippines:

 Containerized and modular farming- We can grow a plant indoors or outdoor process if you
have a container to put the plants. In this method, we Filipinos are very well-known for this
because we recycle every container that we had been using.

 Vertical farming- it uses height to maximize the space in a house or place where you will grow
plants. It is a great way to produce high-quality food. This method is environmentally friendly, it
lessens the use of water and fertilizer that will grow the plants faster and richer in nutrients.

 Aquaponics- it suggests raising marine animals such as fish in urban areas. In this method they
don’t use soil for planting crops but only water. That is why it is a viable option to combine the
cultivation of vegetables in hydroponics using water from fish farming as a nutrient medium; So
this system known as aquaponics does not require large spaces and can be done at home in patios,
garages, roofs, and even balconies.

In Singapore:

 Citiponics- one of Singapore’s rooftop farms. They used the vacant rooftop of the carpark and
turned it into a garden so they have a source of food. They come up with this idea because the
owner want to maximize the place and turned the under-utilized spaces into more helpful spaces
for everyone.

 Building a better greenhouse for urban farms- Natsuki’s Garden is a greenhouse in the center
of the city, occupying reused space in a former schoolyard. The greenhouse is custom designed
for the tropical climate to allow for better air circulation. Yielding 60-80 kg of food per square
