1. GENERAL RULES

Organizers: Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan

1. X International Violin Competition «Astana-Violin» is held in accordance


with subparagraph 12 of Article 7 of the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan
"On Culture" dated December 15, 2006.
2. The competition will be held from 6 to 11 November 2023 in Astana

2. GOALS AND OBJECTIVES OF THE COMPETITION

The goals and objectives of the Competition are:


1) popularization of classical music in Kazakhstan;
2) improving the professional skills of talented musicians;
3) identifying and stimulating capable and talented musicians, improving the
cultural image of Kazakhstan.

3. PROCEDURE AND TERMS OF THE COMPETITION

1. Violinists, as well as students of specialized educational institutions of


Kazakhstan and foreign countries can take part in the Competition
2. There will be two age groups. Junior group is from 10 to 15 years old
inclusive; senior group is from 16 to 28 years old inclusive.
3. To participate in the Competition, you must submit the following documents
by October 20, 2023:
1) an application (in electronic version doc. format) in accordance with
Annex 1 to the Rules for the preparation and holding of the XI International
Violin Competition (hereinafter referred to as the Rules);
2) a copy of an identity card or passport;
3) two photographs (4x5 cm) taken within the last 6 months. And 1 photo for
a booklet
4) a copy of the diploma of education or a certificate from the place of study;
5) competitive performance program for each of the rounds and the timing
of each piece.
6) Brief creative biography
The application and attached documents for participation in the Competition
must be submitted for consideration at the following address: Republic of

4. An application for participation in the Contest is evidence that the


participant agrees with the requirements of these Rules.
5. In case of refusal to participate in the Competition, the documents specified
in paragraph 6 of these Rules will not be returned to the participants.
6. The Organizing Committee (hereinafter - the Organizing Committee) within
3 days sends to the participants a confirmation of acceptance of the
application and within 7 days sends an invitation to the participants.
7. Upon arrival in Astana, the participant must pay an entrance fee for
registration (20 USD for participants from Kazakhstan. 50 USD for
participants from abroad.)
8. The registration procedure takes place in the lobby of the Organ Hall
(Zhenis ave. 33.) on the opening day of the Competition
9. The order of performances of the participants is determined by a draw and is
kept until the end of the Competition.
10.Participants of the Competition form the competitive program in accordance
with Appendix 2 of these Rules.
11.Accompanists can be provided to all contestants at will for a fee. ($20
rehearsal $50 exit for foreign contestants). Information about the pianists can
be obtained from the organizing committee. The phone number is in the
rules.
12. All works are performed by the participants by heart.
13.The order of performance of works is arbitrary.
14.Participants who are not citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan
independently issue passports and visas on the basis of an official invitation
to participate in the Competition.
15. Participants of the Competition specify the program of each round a week
before the start of the Competition and do not have the right to change it
during the Competition.
16.Competitive performances are held publicly, junior and senior groups in 2
rounds.
17.Works performed in one of the rounds must not be repeated in other rounds.
18.Participation in the final gala concert is obligatory for all winners.
19.Participants of the gala concert perform free of charge in accordance with
the program recommended by the jury.

4. Organizing Committee

1. The preparation and holding of the Competition is carried out by the


Organizing Committee, whose composition is approved by the order of the
Minister of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
2. The Organizing Committee interacts with interested organizations on the
preparation and holding of the Competition.
3. The Organizing Committee manages the preparation and conduct of the
Competition, determines the number of prizes and the amount of monetary
reward.

4. Prize fund:
a) Senior Grand Prix group - $7000 and the title of laureate;

I prize - $5000 and the title of laureate;


II prize - $3500 and the title of laureate;
III prize - $2500 and the title of laureate.

b) junior group
I prize - $2000 and the title of laureate;
II prize - $1500 and the title of laureate;
III prize - $1000 and the title of laureate.

Premiums are paid in tenge at the exchange rate of the National Bank of the
Republic of Kazakhstan on the day of payment with taxes withheld, in
accordance with the current legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
5. The organizing committee resolves other organizational issues that arise
during the preparation and conduct of the competition.
6. Individuals and legal entities, in agreement with the Organizing Committee
of the Competition, may establish other special prizes.
7. The Organizing Committee does not cover the costs of staying at the
Accompanist Competition of the participants.
8. The Organizing Committee provides the participants of the Competition
with rehearsal classes and at least one rehearsal before the start of the
Competition, on the stage where the Competition will be held.
9. The Organizing Committee reserves all rights to broadcast the competition
days on radio and television and their further distribution without a fee to the
participants of the Competition.
5. COMPETITION JURY

1. To evaluate the performances of the participants of the Competition, as well


as summing up the results, a jury is created. The composition of the jury is
formed from outstanding musicians of our time, prominent figures of culture
and art and is approved by order of the Minister of Culture and Sports of the
Republic of Kazakhstan.
2. The jury's decision is final and not subject to revision. The decision of the
jury is drawn up in a protocol and signed by all its members.
3. In case of equality of votes, the vote of the chairman of the jury is decisive.
4. The Competition Jury has the right to: 1) interrupt the competitor's
performance; 2) not to award or share among the applicants the prizes
determined by the Organizing Committee.
5. Jury members do not have the right to evaluate their students during the
competition.

6. FINAL PROVISION

6. All issues not regulated by these Rules are resolved in accordance with the
current legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
