Giới thiệu:Nguyen Phan Chanh (1892-1984). He is one of the typical


artists of Indochina painting. He is considered an eclectic person for
Western modeling methods and Eastern silk painting, and was the first
person to bring glory to Vietnamese silk painting.
Cuộc đời: He was born and raised in Thach Ha, Ha Tinh. From a young
age, he received a good education by studying Confucian letters and the
art of calligraphy. He nurtured a burning passion for art, for images of
poor countryside and rural life in the Vietnamese countryside.
Sự nghiệp: Nguyen Phan Chanh’s path to silk painting was not easy. Not only is
he the keeper of the traditional silk painting that dates back thousands of years, but
he is also the one who spreads heat and brings glory to it. The main theme is
farmers, especially women farmers and children. He put a lot of his heart and soul
into it..

The outstanding peak of Nguyen Phan Chanh's artistic legacy is the work Playing
O An Quan. The silk painting was born in 1930, harmonizing the two East-West
flows.
In particular, the painting "Playing O an Quan" was painted on an ivory white silk
background. Here we see the two colors brown and black Nguyen Phan Chanh
surprised viewers. On a smooth silk background, the artist portrayed four children
attentively playing a folk game in a very natural way. The painting brings a classic,
calm feeling, without any disturbance because the character is built in a very solid
rectangle.
The portrait and costume characteristics demonstrate the artist's meticulous
observation of each age of children in order to fully exploit the purity, innocence,
and innocence of children in rural Vietnam.
