In many busy and urban lifestyle, New York stands out
by being the ultimate cosmopolitan destination as many
people say. Containing a lot of diversity and many
cultures to find out and diversity can either mean
differences in places around the world or different
cultures, but let’s start with places first.

We cannot talk about New York without US, and we

cannot talk about US without Canada. Scoring 20 million
visits from them is ought to be impressive, maybe
having a neighbor is good after all. With Mexicans
placing second with 18 million, no wonder why they said
New York have the best tacos. The four follow up are
UK, Japan, China and South Korea, which are less seen
but mentioned a lot.
Now to the different in cultures, these top 5 most popular countries have
brought many exciting culture activities into New York for example
Arranca cebollitas, Geisha, calligraphies and many more for us to get interested into and learn the country’s history.
Also including traditional food and clothing such as sushi and kimono, dumblings and hanfu, kimchi and hanbok.
You can find these cultures sprinkled everywhere in New York, either it’s the people that came from the country or
the tradition itself. But what does diversity benefit? First off, diversity help spreading other country’s tradition and
helping it stay alive. Secondly, it also help with understanding why they’re different than others. And last but not
least, gaining special knowledge about it. So in my conclusion, diversity is varied throughout all of New York and for
a good price of knowledge about cultures.

Diversity in New York's Economy
New York is one of the most economically
thriving states in the USA. The state has a diverse
economy that comprises several industries,
including finance, healthcare, education, real
estate, and technology. In 2021, New York has a
GDP of $1.7 trillion, making it the fourth-largest
economy in the country.
Firstly, diversity has been essential in driving
innovation and creativity in various industries in
New York. The presence of different cultures,
backgrounds, and perspectives has brought
about new ideas and approaches that have led to
significant breakthroughs in technology,
healthcare, finance, and education. For instance,
the tech industry in New York has benefited from
the diversity by creating products and services
that cater to different cultural and linguistic
groups.
Secondly, diversity has been instrumental in
meeting the labor demands of various industries in
New York. With the presence of a diverse
workforce, employers can tap into different skill
sets and expertise, giving them a competitive edge
in their respective sectors. According to a report by
the Center for an Urban Future, immigrants make up
47% of the city's workforce, highlighting how
diversity is vital in meeting labor needs.
Lastly, diversity has helped increase international
trade and tourism in New York. As a global hub,
New York attracts businesses and visitors from all
over the world. The city's diverse population
creates an environment that is welcoming to people
of different cultures and backgrounds, making it an
ideal destination for international trade and
tourism. In turn, this has boosted the city's
economy, with billions of dollars generated annually
from these activities.
In conclusion, diversity has played a vital role in
shaping New York's economy, contributing to its
growth and success. From driving innovation to
meeting labor demands and attracting global trade
and tourism, diversity has been integral to the city's
economic success. The continued celebration and
promotion of diversity are crucial in ensuring that
New York remains a vibrant and prosperous city.

Racism in New
York City
New York City is a melting pot of cultures and
ethnicities, but racism continues to be a persistent
problem in the city. Despite its reputation for
diversity and inclusion, communities of color
continue to face systemic inequality and
discrimination.

Studies have shown that Black and Latinx residents

are disproportionately affected by issues such as
poverty, limited access to healthcare, and police
brutality. Additionally, disparities in educational
outcomes and employment opportunities persist
based on race.

One issue that has gained national attention in

recent years is police brutality against people of
color. The New York City Police Department has a
long history of discrimination and excessive use of
force, particularly against Black and Latinx
individuals. The controversial stop-and-frisk policy,
which disproportionately targeted people of color,
was only recently abandoned after public outcry
and legal action.

While New York City has made progress towards

greater equality, systemic racism continues to
affect many aspects of life in the city. Addressing
these issues will require sustained effort from
individuals, organizations, and policymakers alike.
