Descriptor Range Criteria
Outstanding 90-100 Demonstrates an outstanding understanding of key
concepts/theories and comprehensive summary of the area
covered. Points conveyed clearly, effectively as well as critically.
The seminar is clearly contextual, and provide critical insights into
topic discussed. Presentation aids is creative and charge with
information. Clear that each student carried an equal share of the
burden. Excellent presentation flow between the seminar
speakers. Each student speaks confidently, in fluent English, and
at an appropriate pace.
Excellent 80-89 An excellent demonstration of knowledge of concepts/theories in
relations to the seminar topics. Points are clearly conveyed, and it
is effective communicated. Excellent visual aid used. The seminar
has a clear context and scope. Each presenter utilized an equal
share of time allocated, and able to speak confidently, in fluent
English at an appropriate pace.
Very good 70-79 Presenters are well-prepared and well-versed on the topic
presented. Concepts and theories in relations to the seminar
topics are clearly presented. It has an appropriate context and
within a scope. Appropriate visual aid used. Speakers are able to
speak with confidence, in fluent English, an appropriate pace.
Good 60-69 A good grasp of the materials used in the seminar. Points
conveyed clearly as well as critically. Visual aids is clear, and
appropriate. Some evidence of research was conducted, but may
contain information that is not so relevant with the topic. Clear
that each student carried an equal share of the burden. Good
presentation flow between the seminar speakers. It was well
paced and of the required length. Each student speaks relatively
freely, and in proper English.
Clear pass 50-59 A reasonable grasp of the content of the seminar. Points
conveyed somewhat clearly, though may lack of critical analysis
of the content presented. Some speakers are allocated more time
to speak than the others. Hiccups are apparent throughout the
seminar presentation, and speakers do not seem to know how to
tackle the situation. Somewhat meet the required length.
Marginal pass 40-49 Demonstrated a basic grasp of the content of the seminar, but
marred by either poor discriminative ability, conceptual naïveté,
or both. The seminar may cover some main points, but many
irrelevant areas are discussed as well. The seminar itself is either
too short or too long. Speakers do not demonstrate competent
presentation skills. Poor visual aids (cluttered, heavy on text,
etc.). Poor cooperation between the speakers.
Marginal fail 30-39 The content presented is basic and descriptive but it is full of
errors. Presenters discussed many irrelevant matters and do not
address the instruction of the question. Shows very little to none
research was conducted for the seminar. Poor visual aids – very
minimal and dull. The seminar is not well-paced, and not of the
required length.
Clear fail 20-29 Does not satisfy the minimum requirements in their attempt in
holding the seminar. Little understanding of class materials. No
structure. Does not address the topic.
Little or Nothing 0-19 Not prepared for the seminar. An extremely poor level of
of Merit discussion, with very poor team work displayed.
