AASHTO M 17-95 (2004) is identical to ASTM D 242-95 (2000) except for the following
provisions:
1. All references to the ASTM standards contained in ASTM D 242-95 (2000), listed in the
following table, shall be replaced with the corresponding AASHTO standard:

2. Add a new section after Section 4.1 of ASTM D 242-95 (2000) that contains the following:
Fly ash used as a mineral filler shall have a maximum loss on ignition of 12 percent .
3. Add a new section after Section 5.3 of ASTM D 242-95 (2000) that contains the following:
Determine the loss on ignition of fly ash according to ASTM C 311.
