AMFI Student Guide 2324 INT
AMFI Student Guide 2324 INT
Now that you are reading this, it means that your first chapter at
AMFI is officially closed. You have spent a full year exploring how all
three dimensions (Design, Branding and Business & Development)
connect to one another, but how they simultaneously each have their
own focus areas. And, last but not least, you have made a start with
envisioning how your role and purpose within the fashion industry
could look like. Now it is time to dive deep into the dimension that
sparked your interest the most.
For the next three years, you will learn the basic skills to develop
yourself as a fashion professional within your chosen dimension.
Thus, many more exciting chapters lie ahead of you. We can imagine
that this feels quite overwhelming at times, which is why this AMFI
Student Info Guide is developed to help you navigate through your
AMFI journey.
General A-Z List / The HvA websites offers an A-Z list for AMFI students
with all information our students need. You can find information on ad-
vice and support, ICT, study programmes, money matters, etc.
HvA Timetable / Make sure to refresh your HvA Timetable regularly and
synchronize it with your own agenda to stay up to date.

rental of AV equipment
Did you know that you can borrow audiovisual equipment from
the AUAS free of charge for a period up to six months? The FDMCI
rental desk has all sorts of AV resources that can help you out during
projects, presentations or homework. Think about studio lights
and professional cameras for a photoshoot, or an iPad to showcase
videos at the exhibition of your brand concept. The FDMCI ICT/AV
lending desk at BPH is happy to help!
Please note that for the rental of MSI laptops, permission from your
teacher is mandatory! An e-mail from your teacher to Jitske in which
the teacher gives you permission for a MSI-voucher is sufficient.

makers lab
The open workshop called the Makers Lab is the ideal place to give your
ideas concrete shape using materials such as wood, plastic, metal and
different textiles. You can also create intensely coloured prints with the
RISO printer, or create full-colour prints on nearly any material with the
UV printer. Otherwise, the digital Makers Lab also has 3D printers, laser
cutters, a foam cutter, a stack cutter and a sticker cutter. The Makers
Lab’s analogue tools include a drill press, band saw, sander and many
hand tools.
The Makers Lab is not a place to have things made but where to make
them yourself. There are always instructors present who can teach you
how to work safely with the tools and equipment. Then it’s all up to you
to get to work independently. Using the Makers Lab is free of charge.
Bring along your own materials or get some advice about various
options and sales outlets.
GETTING STARTED
Would you like to get to work in the Makers Lab or take a look around?
Then drop by the Theo Thijssen building, room 00B20. You can reserve
a place for the lasers, the UV printer and the RISO printer via the online
reservation system. Create an account with your HvA email address (not
your HvA-ID). For the other equipment just drop by. The instructors are
ready to show you around or guide you in the use of the equipment.
11
photostudio
Did you already know that you can make use of a professional
photostudio in the Benno Premsela building (BPH 07A03)? Time to bring
your projects to the next level! All you have to do is make a reservation by
emailing the Fotolab (fotolab@hva.nl) and Elise Kruijff wil do her best to
find a spot for you.
HOUSE RULES
/ Please check the studio before you go in. If anything is dirty or broken,
e-mail photos with text before you start your reservation.
/ You can get the key for the studio at the rental desk at BPH 02A21.
Please make sure to return the key and light button switch before 16:30
or put everything in the deposit box on the counter of the rental desk.

/ If you leave the studio, please unplug the studio lights from the
electricity and clean up.
