4.4 Place the flange. Make sure that the mating flange is properly
supported to avoid load being transmitted to the fiberglass
flange.
4.5 Insert the flange’s bolts.
4.6 Install washer and apply nut until it is hand tight.

4.7 Number each bolts starting at the top in a clock-wise direction.

4.8 Tighten all the bolts at 70% of the recommended torque value
depending on its piping class and as per manufacturer’s
recommendation.
4.9 Tighten all the bolts at 100% of the recommended torque value.
4.10 Tightening sequence to be use as follows:

5. INSPECTION:

5.1 Selection Criteria:

5.1.1 Gaskets shall be suitable for the intended service and
compatible with the flange facing.
5.1.2 Note that flanges are thicker than metal flanges and require
washers. This should be taken into account when calculating
the bolt length.
5.1.3 PIKOTEK gaskets, or approved equal, with isolating sleeves and
washers are used for isolating dissimilar metal flanged joints and
insulating joints for cathodic protection.
5.2 Inspection:
5.2.1 Ensure that gasket are of the correct type, size and rating and
shall be suitable for intended service & compatible with the
flange facing.
5.2.2 Check and verify the gasket for any scratches and damage.

5.2.3 Bolts and nuts have no physical damage to shanks or threads.
5.2.4 Bolts extend completely through their nuts (full thread
engagement).

5.2.5 The flange facing, particularly the seating area, shall be visually
examined for cleanliness and ensure that no damage, such as
scratches exist.
5.2.6 Ensure that torque wrench has valid calibration certificate.
5.2.7 Flange joints shall be installed aligned and stress free. Never pull
flanges together by tightening the bolts.
5.2.8 Not more than one gasket is used between mating surfaces of
flanges.
5.2.9 The gasket contact areas of the flanges are not coated.
5.3 Safety Requirements:
