Design Considerations

● Natural Environment - Protect and preserve existing natural features in the area and
incorporate proper sustainable landscaping practices to overall design.
● Sustainability - Design the park with sustainability in mind. Use eco-friendly materials,
incorporate energy-efficient lighting, and consider stormwater management techniques
like permeable pavements and rain gardens.
● Accessibility - To ensure that the park is accessible to all members of the community,
including those with disabilities. Provide ramps, accessible pathways, and facilities like
accessible restrooms and seating areas.
● Safety and Security - Safety should be a top priority in park design. Consider lighting,
visibility, and the placement of features to minimize opportunities for crime and create a
sense of security. Adequate signage and emergency access should also be included.
● Functionality - Ensure that the park offers a range of amenities and spaces that cater to
different user needs, such as playgrounds, sports courts, picnic areas, and walking trails.
Balance active and passive recreational areas.
● Aesthetics - To ensure that the park is aesthetically pleasing and harmonious with the
environment resulting in a balanced and well planned design. Integrate landscaping
factors, and architectural elements and decoratives to enhance the design of the park.

Flora and Fauna in Tanay Rizal

Rainbow Eucalyptus - Eucalyptus deglupta is a species of tall tree, commonly known as the
rainbow eucalyptus, Mindanao gum, or rainbow gum that is native to the Philippines.
King Fern - Angiopteris evecta, commonly known as the king fern, giant fern, elephant fern,
oriental vessel fern, Madagascar tree fern, or mule's Foot fern, is a very large rainforest fern in
the family Marattiaceae native to most parts of Southeast Asia and Oceania.

Tabernaemontana dichotoma - grows as a shrub or tree, measuring from 2–12 metres (10–40 ft)
tall, rarely to 20 m (70 ft). The trunk measures up 30 cm (12 in) in diameter. The plant's latex,
fruit and seeds are all poisonous.

Material Concept

Bamboo - Bamboo is abundant in Tanay and is widely used for construction, furniture making,
and crafts. It is known for its versatility and sustainability.

Nipa Palm: Nipa palm leaves are used for roofing material in traditional Filipino houses known
as "bahay kubo." They are also used for making hats, bags, and other handicrafts.
Rattan - Rattan vines are commonly found in the forest in Tanay and it is a good material for
building furniture.

Woven mats (made of Pandan Leaves) - Indigenous material that is prominent in Tanay, Rizal
and it can be used as a decorative item.
