McCall's pattern M6649, used in class, is out of print.

Please refer to the "Alternative Pattern Suggestions"
document in the class materials, or use any blouse
pattern that has bust darts, high neckline and a basic
sleeve style. Avoid patterns with princess seams.
• 18" (50 cm) ruler
• Tape measure 3
• Butcher or pattern paper
• French curve 2
• Pencils 7

• Scissors (fabric & paper)
• Scotch tape
• Bright-colored pencil (red)

Checklists

TRUING CHECKLIST
oo Fold out darts as you measure
oo All lengths to be sewn together should equal each
other (sides, shoulders, dart legs, sleeve sides)
oo Side seam should be the same shape
oo Areas to be joined should be smooth across front
and back (at hem, neckline, armhole)
oo Notches should line up (side, sleeve and armhole)
oo Sleeve cap should have ½" to 5/8" (12 mm to 16 mm)
more than total armhole measurement for easing

PATTERN FINISHING CHECKLIST


oo If you’ve moved your bust dart, remember to
move the dart point back 1" to 1½" (2.5 cm to 3.8
cm) from your apex or pivot point
oo True your pattern (see previous checklist)
oo Write a piece name on it (e.g., “back yoke”)
oo Mark any edge to be cut on fold
oo Mark "Center Front" and "Center Back"
oo Mark "Cut 1" (if on fold) or "Cut 2" (if mirrored)
oo Add seam allowances back to all sides that are
not cut on fold
oo Keep notches, moving them straight out to seam
allowance edge
oo Add grain line (usually parallel to CF, CB, or the
midpoint line on your sleeve)
You are ready to cut, sew and be stylish!
