Mill - Probe Ready - Installation

Overview
The probe kit comes with the necessary wires and cables to install a universal probe-ready option to a Haas
mill. This kit is used on machines with or without the 8M-relay option. However it is installed differently if the
mill has the option. The following instructions describe how to install the mill probe kit regardless of options.

Use the following figures to install the kit.

1. Power down the machine and open the control cabinet.
2. Install the 24V probe power supply at the bottom right of the cabinet (see diagram) using hook and loop
fasteners. Route the probe power supply cable (90B) through the wire channel toward the Power PCB at the
top of the cabinet. Plug the power supply source cable to P3 on the power supply PCB.
3. Install the first pair of wires to NC and NO of the M22 relay. Install the black wire to NO and the red wire to
NC.
4. Plug the second probe cable (1070) to P22 at the bottom left of the I/O PCB. Route the wire from pin 1 (of
plug P22) to the M22 common (COM) tap on either the I/O PCB or the 8M relay board if equipped.
The probe power and signal wires will be installed to the Haas cables as described in the probe manufacturer’s
instructions.
Newer I/O boards with plug P77 available can use cable 33-0618 to connect to the probe. See the following P77
table for probe connection details.
