SOLIDWORKS 2017 INSTALLATION GUIDE
BEFORE INSTALLATION:
1. Download the SOLIDWORKS 2017 SP05 from the link provided.

2. Extract the zipped folders.

i. Right click on the zip folder, select “Extract Here”.
ii. After all extraction process is completed, please “Delete” the zipped folders.

3. The size of the folder after the extraction should be 12.8 GB.

SOFTWARE INSTALLATION:
For installation, please make sure your internet connection is stable.

1. Click on “Setup” icon.

2. Click “Yes” to allow the installation.

3. If this notification appears, click “OK”.

4. Select “Individual (on this computer)” then click “Next”.

5. Key-in the Serial Number. Please contact your lecturer for the Serial Number. You are strictly prohibited to
distribute this Serial Number to outsider (for Polymer Technology Shah Alam students only). Then, click “Next”.

6. This screen will appear. Click “Change” on the “Download Options”.

7. Select “Install only” and browse to the location of your downloaded SolidWorks folder.
Under the “Where do you want to download the required files?”, please browse to the same SolidWorks folder.
The, click “Back to Summary”.

8. Tick to accept the terms of the SolidWorks. Click “Install Now”.

9. This pop-up window will appear. Key-in 25734@202.58.83.197. Then, click “OK” and “Install Now”.

10. The installation will start. This will take some time. Please make sure your internet connection is stable and
your computer is connected to the power source.

11. After installation is complete, this screen will appear. Select “No, thank you” and click “Finish”. Please DO NOT
launch or open the software yet.

12. These shortcuts will appear on your desktop.

LICENSE BORROWING STEPS:

Borrowing License and Safe mode.
So that you can run SW offline for 30 days and without crashing.

1. Please make sure your computer’s name is unique. This is because SW Solidnetwork License manager will register
your computer by its name. Therefore, the second computer with the same name is assumed to have borrowed
the license.

2. Connect your computer to the internet.

3. Start your SolidNetWork License Manager Client, most probably in SOLIDWORKS Tools 2017 folder in Windows
10 Start menu. Or you can just click on the icon below and type in the name.

4. Click “Yes” to allow.

5. This window will appear. Click on the “Server List” tab. Please make sure ONLY 25734@202.58.83.197 in your
SERVER LIST.

6. Click “License Borrowing” tab. Select SOLIDWORKS PREMIUM. Do not select Standard.

7. Select the expiry date, maximum is 30 days including today.

8. Click “Borrow”. Once SOLIDWORKS Premium and SOLIDWORKS Standard appear in “Borrowed product licenses”,
click “OK”.

9. If this window appears, please re-select the date as suggested.

10. You have successful in borrowing a license! Now, you can use the SolidWorks software without the internet
connection. Please remember, you need to do the borrowing license once it is expired.

Reminder : Please take note on the expiry date. Please do not open the SolidWorks before doing the Borrowing
step once the license expired or else you will have difficulty in borrowing the license later on.
Note : You can also use the SolidWorks software without borrowing license, but you need to have internet
connection all the time when using SolidWorks.

11. For launching the software, just click the “SOLIDWORKS 2017” icon on the desktop.

In case your SW keeps on crashing, due to insufficient RAM, try open in safe mode i.e. Software Open GL
mode via SolidWorks Rx 2017.

GOOGLE CHROME REMOTE DESKTOP INSTALLATION (IF NECESSARY)
1. Type “Google Chrome Remote Desktop” on google search engine.

2. Click “Chrome Remote Desktop”. Screen as shown below will appear. Then click on the download button.

3. This screen will appear. Click “Add to Chrome”.

4. Click “Add Extension” on the pop-up screen.

5. Type-in a computer’s name and PIN. Click “Start”.

6. Click “Yes” to allow for the app to install.

7. The extension will be added to your Goggle Chrome search engine.

8. Click on “Remote Support”. Screen as shown below will appear.

9. Click “Generate Code”. A unique code will be generated. Copy the code and send to the person you want to have
access to your computer. When that person enters your access code on the site, you will see a dialog with their
e-mail address. Select “Share” to allow them full access to your computer.

10. To end a sharing session, click “Stop Sharing”.

11. The access code will only work one time. If you are sharing your computer, you will be asked to confirm that you
want to continue to share your computer every 30 minutes.

12. You can create a shortcut on your computer desktop. Type chrome://apps on your Google search engine.

13. Right click on the “Chrome Remote Desktop” icon and click “Shortcut”. A shortcut icon will appear on your
computer desktop.

TEAM VIEWER INSTALLATION (IF NECESSARY)
1. Type “Team Viewer” on google search engine. Click on the “TeamViewer: The Remote Desktop Software”.

2. Click “Download for Free” to download the installer.

3. Click on the Team Viewer Installer to run the installation.

4. Click “Yes” to allow the installation.

5. This window will appear. Select “Default installation” and “Personal / Non-commercial use”. Then, click “Accept
– Finish”.

7. This icon will appear on desktop or on Start Menu. Click the icon to open the Team Viewer.
