1.6 Materials
All structural rolled steel and built up sections or profiles are as per Indian Standard IS:2062 -1999.
2. DESIGN DATA/PARAMETERS
Unit weight of wet concrete(including Rft) = 2.6 t/m3
Allowable Stress in Bending in Structural Steel = 1650 kg/cm2
Allowable Shear Stress in Structural Steel = 1000 kg/cm2
Modulus of Elasticity of Steel (Es) = 2100000 kg/cm2
Modulus of Elasticity of ply (Eply) = 100000 kg/cm2
Allowable Stress in Bending in Ply = 105 kg/cm2
Allowable Stress in Bending in Timber = 85 kg/cm2
Allowable Shear Stress in Timber(Group C) = 4.9 kg/cm2
3. LOAD
3.1 DEAD LOAD
Average thickness of slab = 0.25 m
Length of cantilever = 2 m
Dead load intensity 0.25*2.6 = 0.65 t/m2
3.2 LIVE LOAD
Live load intensity , as per IRC 87 = 0.36 t/m2
Loads during construction may occur due to construction personal, plant & equipment, vibration
and impact of machine, delivered concrete ,unsymmetrical placement of concrete ,storage of
construction personnel.

R2 cosФ
Distance,a = 0.6 m
Distance,b = 0.14 m
Distance,c = 0.86 m
Distance,d = 1 m
Distance,e = 0.87 m
Distance,f = 2.05 m
sinФ = e/f = 0.424
cosФ = (c+d)/f = 0.906
Equating moments at point 1
Equation1, R1*(a+b+c+d) + (R2 sinФ)*(a+b) = P1*a + P2*(a+b) + P3*(a+b+c)
Equation2, R1 + R2 sinФ= P1 + P2 + P3
From above equations , R1 = 0.358 t
From above equations , R2 = 3.446 t
R2 sinФ = 1.460 t
Max. Span of the Primary girders = 1000 mm
Load Intensity = 1.01 t/m2
UDL on Primary Girder = 0.909 t/m
Max. Bending Moment (M) = 0.50 t-m
Actual Bending Stress, σbc,cal = M/ZXX = 670.24 kg/cm2
As per IS 800-1984, Max. Permissible Bending Stress = 1650 kg/cm2 > 670.2 kg/cm2
