According to the video, Enron committed one of the biggest corporate frauds in US history and

bombarded everyone. The once-respected industry leader fell out of business in a matter of
months, wiping out hundreds of millions of dollars in value to shareholders and employee
salaries. A combination of poor accounting practices, corruption, and dishonesty resulted in the
bankruptcy of Enron. The senior management team of the company hid debt and inflated profits
using complicated accounting practices, enabling them to receive enormous payouts and keep
the price of the stock stable. The Enron matter brought corporate governance into subject
matter, as well as the function of accountants in identifying and fighting fraud.

The legacy of Enron continues despite considerable procedures and law adjustments made by
the accounting industry since then. It's frightening to think that there are individuals who are
greedy for wealth who will commit extensive fraud just to make billions. In the world of business,
many significant people along with executive individuals are determined to cover up and
surround themselves with fraud even if that means risking their professional standing and
dignity. I've come to realize just how huge the impact of greediness is to average people and to
society.

In conclusion, the bankruptcy of Enron illustrates how unethical behavior can harm a whole
business. The incident needs to act as a warning that, in order to secure long-term sustainability
and profitability, every business, big or little, must prioritize ethical behavior, accountability, and
transparency. As a student of accounting, it taught me to ensure that no matter the amount of
payment offered for me to commit fraud or other wrongdoings, I am not going to accept it and
will instead protect my reputation and self-worth. My credibility and integrity are my greatest
assets, thus I cannot afford to ruin them. I don't want to throw away the results of my hard work
only to satisfy those greedy individuals.
