Mini Task 3: Design Sketch III

I. DESCRIPTON
In this activity, the learners are expected to exhibit their scientific inquiry skills. The students
will use their understanding and observations to identify the environmental problem of their chosen
community, home, or school in the Philippines and challenge their critical thinking skills by
proposing a solution to these problems. It will help them show care and concern to their
community. At the end of the activity, the students must be able sketch their proposed product that
can help solve the environmental problem of their community.
Learning  I can sketch the design of the proposed product--- its overall appearance and
Targets: internal parts.

II. BACKGROUND
Climate change has gotten worse over the past decades. The rising average temperatures caused
by greenhouse gases brought extreme weather events, biodiversity depletion, rising seas, and other
impacts that affected the environment as well as human lives. With the help of science and
technology, scientists developed ways to mitigate the impacts of climate change on our
environment. Thus, understanding green technology and using it to help solve the concerns of our
environment can help in mitigating the impacts of climate change within our community.

A prototype sketch design is a powerful tool for innovators proposing green technologies as it
aids in visualization, communication, early validation, risk mitigation, and collaboration. It
enhances the likelihood of successful development, adoption, and impact of innovative green
solutions.

The goal of a prototype sketch is to communicate ideas quickly and iteratively, so it doesn't need
to be overly detailed. It should serve as a starting point for discussions and refinements as the design
progresses. Additionally, with the advent of digital design tools, many designers use software to
create more refined and interactive prototypes, but the basic principles of sketching and ideation
remain important.

III. DIRECTIONS
Sketch your proposed product on a separate document. Follow the guidelines in the creation of your
prototype design:

I. Elements of the Prototype Sketch Design:

a. Use of basic shapes:
i. Use simple geometric shapes to represent different elements within the design,
such as rectangles for buttons, circles for icons, etc.
b. Clarity of Layout structure:
i. Outline the overall structure and layout of the design. This includes the placement
of key elements such as navigation menus, content areas, and any other relevant
components.
c. Annotations and Labels:
i. Add labels and annotations to explain different parts of the design. This could
include text indicating the purpose of a specific element or notes on functionality.
d. User Interface Components:
i. Include representations of various user interface components, such as buttons,
checkboxes, radio buttons, input fields, etc. These elements help communicate the
interactive aspects of the design.
e. Color and Styling

i. Use simple shading or annotations to indicate color choices and styling decisions.
This provides a sense of the visual aesthetics of the design.
f. Dimensions and Proportions
i. Provide rough estimates of dimensions and proportions to give a sense of scale
and spacing between different elements.
II. Format:
a. Paper size: 8”x11” (letter)
b. Orientation: Landscape or Portrait
c. Font style: Times new roman
d. Perspective:
i. Front view
ii. Bird’s eye-view or Top view
iii. Left side view
iv. Right side view
v. Back view

III. Criteria:
a. 20% Clarity of Layout structure:
b. 20% Dimensions and Proportions
c. 15% Use of basic shapes
d. 15% Annotations and Labels
e. 10% Color and Styling
f. 10% User Interface Components
g. 10% Availability of Different Perspective
