INTRODUCTION
Brief Background
emerged, captivating the hearts and minds of teenagers around the globe: Korean dramas,
or "K-dramas" as they are affectionately known. These addictive series have become a
cultural phenomenon, garnering millions of dedicated fans who eagerly immerse themselves
Korean language. The dramas are aired on Korean television, as well as being available
through online platforms. Even though the word “drama” is a part of the name, K-dramas can
be in a lot of different genres, there’s everything from romance and comedy to action and
science fiction, but the most typical is probably romantic dramas. K-dramas usually only
have one season. There are typically 16 one-hour episodes, or 32 thirty-minutes episodes.
K-dramas are a part of “hallyu” (한류), referring to “the Korean wave”, spreading Korean pop
culture across the world. Watching K-dramas is a great way of learning more about the
Korean culture and life as well as catching some typical Korean words and sentences.[1]
And based on our observation, other people think they watch romantic or other
related relationships because they think they could happen in real life. So we prepare to
choose this topic to find out why the relationships of every viewer of these romantics will be
affected. And many viewers enjoyed the "Kilig factor" that every Korean drama provided

Based on what most people experience when they watch romantic shows, they are
more interested in imitating what they watch. For example, based on the standards of the
audience, they have an idea of who they will love. That’s why there are many people who
have relationships online, and most of them are not serious about relationships because, for
them, it’s just a game. They think that someone is meant for them like the ones they watch,
and that’s only the reason why you are rejected by the standards of every viewer. We
believe in this romantic drama. When we watch it, we can say or think that there is
something like that in real life. When it comes to emotions, every viewer has different types
of emotions when watching good shows, just like comedy is all fun shows, action is there
when the killings are over, and romance is mixed in with mixed emotions because it's full of
fun. sadness, and so on. Every viewer can be an emotion, so they show influence, especially
to those who like it, so it can be said that it is very lucky because there are good things to

they belong to because they don't just watch because others show only life but those around
them. And when there is a relationship online, they can also be influenced because they
watch the people who are in a relationship, and this is where they experience what they say
is true love, just like the viewers. Most people know that not everything seen on the internet
can be imitated because all of this can be said to be just a show. There is a chance that
there is truth, but most of it is not because the viewer on the internet is focused on what they
see. For those reading this, there is a chance that they are interested in having relationships
online. That's why we chose this topic, so we can also know how the viewer can handle it
because most of them have reached several hours of viewing, like those we surveyed, who

also noteworthy that many Filipinos, especially the youth of the current generation, have
been affected and inspired by the new trends brought about by the popularity of Korean
drama in the country. That's why we prefer romance to focus because many people can
relate. and many will also wonder what effect this has on teenagers like us.
3. To analyze the emotional responses evoked by k-drama and their alignment with real life
relationship experiences.
This study holds great importance as it allows grade 10 students to delve deeper into
their understanding of love. By investigating the influence of K-dramas on their perception
of love, we aim to gain insights into how these popular Korean dramas shape their views
on romantic relationships. The study seeks to explore the impact of K-dramas on the
minds and perspectives of grade 10 students, providing a valuable opportunity to expand
their knowledge and comprehension of love.
K-dramas have captured the attention of young viewers with their captivating
storylines and romantic narratives. Therefore, it becomes crucial to examine how these
dramas influence the perception of love among grade 10 students. Through this research,
we hope to uncover the specific ways in which K-dramas shape their understanding of
love, including their ideals, expectations, and emotional nuances related to romantic
relationships. By connecting the topic of K-dramas to the perception of love among grade
10 students, this study opens doors for a deeper exploration of how media influences
their thoughts and feelings about love.

"Does Watching Romantic Movies Help Your Love Life Flourish?" By Micheal
Ungar (February 4, 2023). People who watch romantic television shows and movies report
more commitment and relationship happiness. Even while we frequently accuse love films of
inflating expectations for relationships, they might actually improve them.[6]
Naidu (2015) based his claim on the findings of "A Quantitative Study on the
Impact of the Korean Dramas among Youth in Chennai". According to the data that was
acquired, the majority of K-drama watchers were between the ages of 13 and 20. The
female audience seemed to watch more K-dramas than the other gender. among the 100
respondents to the survey. The fact that 81% of them have watched K-dramas shows how
well-liked and widespread the genre is with its intended demographic. The various activities
that were depicted in the episodes were easily adopted by many viewers, which changed
their daily routines and behaviors. It suggests that there isn't a limit on who can or cannot
watch Korean dramas.[7]

BODY
For this particular study, the researchers aimed to gather insights from a diverse
group of grade 10 students who are avid viewers of K-dramas. The sample size consisted
of 47 students, carefully selected from various sections within Pagbilao National High
The age range of the respondents spanned from 15 to 18 years old, encompassing
the typical age group of grade 10 students. Within this age range, the participants were
evenly distributed, with some being 15 years old, others 16, 17, or 18 years old. The
inclusion of students from different ages was intended to capture a broader range of
male students. While the majority of respondents were female, the inclusion of male
acknowledges the fact that K-dramas have gained popularity among viewers of various
genders.
The relationship status of the respondents was also taken into account. Out of the 47
students, 37 reported being single, while 10 indicated that they were in a relationship.
This information could potentially shed light on how relationship status may influence the
National High School. The diversity within the sample enhances the generalizability and

Most Korean dramas have their parental guidance age set at 15 years. But, as stated
in an article, the requirement for parental supervision till the age of 15 has become
obsolete because the 20th century generation is accustomed to using technology from a
young age. K-dramas have surpassed expectations and have viewers addicted of all
ages, from roughly 12 years and above, unlike other dramas that have a fixed age of
viewers. (Denise, 2 months ago)[9]

The distribution of responses regarding the number of episodes one can watch in a
day provides interesting insights into viewing habits. According to the survey results, 19%
of respondents indicated watching 1-2 episodes in a day, while a larger proportion of 30%
reported watching 3-5 episodes. However, the majority, comprising 51% of participants,
claimed to watch 6 or more episodes in a single day. This data suggests a significant
portion of individuals engaging in binge-watching behavior, dedicating extended periods
to consuming multiple episodes consecutively
According to dreamr724 (2017) I'm completely ashamed to admit that on a good day,
I'll watch for 4-5 hours. I'll watch after dinner and all through the night. I can watch almost
ten episodes over those binge weekends. I've even sacrificed two hours of sleep to finish
dramas that, of course, follow a predetermined script.

The survey on K-drama genres reveals interesting insights into the viewing
preferences of respondents. Romantic dramas emerged as the most popular genre, with
a significant 42% of participants expressing a preference for this genre. Rom-coms and
romantic and rom-com combinations were also favored by 6% and 15% of respondents,
respectively. Action and historical dramas each garnered 6% of the votes, indicating a
moderate interest in these genres. Medical, horror, and historical dramas had lower
appeal, with only 2% of participants selecting each category. Notably, 15% of
respondents expressed an interest in watching K-dramas from all genres, highlighting a
diverse appreciation for various storytelling styles. These findings emphasize the
importance of offering a wide range of genres in the K-drama industry to cater to the
