The National Service Training Program (NSTP) - Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) is
designed to promote sense of values, leadership and education among the youth. It enabled to
uplift the sense of social and patriotic responsibility among students. The ROTC commandant and
CWTS coordinators shall conduct an extensive leadership trainings on cadets emphasizing the
importance of humility and obedience.
Service-learning in the educational sector has shown increased impact on student lifelong learning
and institutional commitment to the community over the past decade. Universities in the
Philippines provide various service-learning programs for their partner communities, to address
students' understanding of real-life community needs. This article examines how one university has
responded to this policy framework with the development of community programs that also meet
its goals for social transformation.
Exertional rhabdomyolysis (ER) is on the rise among service members and high school and college
athletes. Risk factors for ER include fitness level, sudden increase in exercise intensity and
duration, and eccentric predominant exercise. This study examined an ER cluster among Reserve
Officer Training Corps cadets who participated in a mandatory, timed, extreme conditioning
program (ECP). The relative risk of developing ER was significantly increased in those who
consumed alcohol in the week preceding the ECP.

The authors investigate a gap in attitudes toward homosexuals in the U.S. military among a select
group of people. Being a military academy cadet is associated with the strongest agreement for
barring homosexuals from serving in the military, followed by ROTC cadets and civilians. When
controlling for respondents' sex and political affiliation, the two most significant predictors of
agreeing to bar homosexuals from military service are cadets.

5.Maggitt, Jesse, Examining Cadet Commitment and
The U.S. Army ROTC Program: A Quantitative Study
(2016).
Between 2001 and 2012, Army ROTC commissioned less than the 4,500 new officers that are
required annually. Examining organization functions and the relationship of\r commitment had the
potential to reveal conditions that could be improved. Future studies should focus on examining
the relationship between cadet commitment and additional internal functions of Army ROTC.
External factors such as economic and political conditions should also be examined.
