Clinical Assessment
The patient is a known case of kidney failure since last 10 months. It has been
informed that his mother will be the donor. The patient was put on dialysis 1 month
ago and is also a known case of renal stones, which requires further evaluation and
work-up.
Treatment Plan Being Considered

As per the medical inquiry shared, the patient is eligible to undergo kidney transplant
from a blood-related donor. The donor, his mother, is 50 years old. She is deemed fit
as per the evaluation conducted by the local doctor. But still, the recipient and the
donor are required to undergo a series of tests at the hospital to check the blood
type, blood grouping and other parameters.
Blood tests, serology tests (HIV, Hep C, and B) and Blood group, Urinalysis, Kidney
function test, Liver function test, Electrolytes, Renal ultrasound, Whole abdomen
ultrasound, Doppler ultrasound of the kidney vessels, Tissue compatibility tests (HLA)
Patient’s own blood relative would be accepted as the donor following tests for the
health of the donor, compatibility, and other factors. Once a go-ahead from the
doctor is received, a surgery would be planned for the donor and the patient.
However, all of the donor's parameters should be normal on arrival to be approved as
the donor.
This treatment plan includes the cost of pre-investigations and kidney transplant
surgery. The costing may, however, vary as per the exact requirement depending on
the condition of the patient after the surgery and also the results of the pre-
investigations.
