4 stroke engine

What is a four-stroke engine?

The four-stroke engine is an internal combustion one,
which goes through four phases necessary for its
intake cycle to fully develop.

During these 4 phases, in addition, two complete turns

of the crankshaft are also required for the cycle to
close correctly

How does a four-stroke engine work?

The phases through which a four-stroke engine passes
are the following:
1 – Fuel intake
In a four-stroke engine, the intake valve opens and, as
the piston moves down, fuel is drawn into the cylinder.

2 – Compression
the intake valve closes. Now the piston begins to rise,
due to which a compression of the air-fuel mixture
occurs.

when finished, the crankshaft will have made its first

complete turn

3 – Explosión/Expansión
when the piston reaches top dead center, the valves
are closed, so the spark plug generates the spark that
is required for the mixture to explode.

furthermore, the piston moves downwards again.

4 – Exhaust
In it the piston reaches bottom dead center and the
exhaust valve opens.

Now the piston will move up and the gases that have
been produced during combustion will be thrown out.

When all this process has been completed, the

crankshaft has also made its two complete turns.
