Web-based Applications

 SaaS (Software as a Service) also referred to “ on-


demand software”.
 With this delivery model, the application is hosted
online by the vendor and made available to the
customer over the internet.
 This applications are also referred to as web-based
applications
What kinds of web-based applications are available?

 Microsoft Office Web Apps- are online version of Word, Excel,


Power Point and OneNote but with fewer tabs than the
installed versions
 Google Docs (www.docs.google.com)- word processing,
spreadsheet and presentation capabilities.
 Sites such as Zoho and ThinkFree offer web-based
applications.
What advantages do web-based applications have?

 As long as you have a web browser, you can access


your files which are store securely online.
 Being able to access your documents from any
computer and Smartphone that has internet access.
 You can invite people to share your files and work
together in real time, watching as others make
changes to the documents.
