Carbon Sequestration
Plantations have a very strategic role in the national action
plan in GHG mitigation, because it has a great ability to
absorb CO2. Therefore, it is necessary to determine the
carbon stocks and GHG emissions from plantation
management.

Gas samples were taken from 5 sampling points as

replications by closed chamber method. Carbon stock
estimation was done by destructive technique, including
biomass of understorey and non-wood necromass.

The results showed that the coffee plantations less than 10

years-old at the study sites emitted 47 tons CO2-e/ha/year
and stored carbon of 91.4 tons C/ha.

Climate change adaptation strategies can be done by the

application of good agricultural practices (GAP) and the use
of drought-tolerant clones, mulches, shade trees, multiple
cropping systems, silt pits and biophore techniques.

The GHG mitigation can be done by the utilization of

plantation waste as a source of organic fertilizer, biochar,
animal feed, and bioenergy sources through the
development of models of integration crop and livestock
systems, as well as rejuvenation of plantation crops to
increase carbon sinks and stocks.
Cultivation Area
West and Northern Lombok districts are consisting of
mountains ,hills ,low plains ,and coastal areas. Coffee
plantation is a mountainous area and hills at an altitude of
400 – 850 meters above sea level, stretched in part slope
of Rinjani mountainous region, from west until north.
Rinjani Mountain is fiery active, by therefore very rich with
nutritious content soil, beneficial for flower plants grow in
the area. In addition there are also various plants in the
coffee plantation area such as fruits ( bananas, durian,
mangosteen, rambutan, chocolate ), ginger, galangal,
turmeric, spices (cloves and vanilla), & trees, lots of palms
used for production of palm sugar (aren) .

Farmer- Cultivator
Part large area of coffee plantations constitute region social
forestry, they have permission right to manage the land
tenure, as for manager of the area is farmer cultivator which
is member from farmer group in West Lombok and North
Lombok

West Lombok, the area is 1339 Ha, local coffee tree

has not been spliced / rejuvenated so that less
productivity, there are 1 million coffee trees (Forest
Management Group data), total manager there are 5
Farmer Groups consisting of 39 subgroups and its
members consisting of 2339 farmers cultivator .
North Lombok, size of the area more than 1000 ha
cultivated farmer inside, coffee trees in this area are
average rejuvenated / spliced, more productive, farmers
manager is farmers included in the sub- group Farmer
Groups

Type of Coffee
The type of coffee that is in the is robusta coffee with most
varieties his Tugusari & Malangsari.

Technique Cultivation
Coffee plantations in the area of north and western average
intercropping with other plants , mostly tree fruits , plants
underneath spices. North Lombok already had been
rejuvenated 10-15 years ago so more productive than West
Lombok, West not yet rejuvenated.

Post Harvest
We are post processing the harvest naturally , where is the
coffee cherry after harvested in sort especially formerly
separated between the red cherries and green then cherry
red mined in water for separate the good cherries (those
that sink in water) from those that defect. Good cherry dried
in the drying area until average water content at 11% -
14%, after that done milling (hulling), after being hulled in
sorting again manually hand picking then sizing and
grading with sizing machine , then weighed immediately
pack with packaging bag, in the sack plastic coated for
prevent pests & humidity
Capacity Production & Storage
North can produced 400 tones, for potency whole not
enough over 1000 tons. For Coffee storage is stored in the
warehouse storage, given palette wood as a base for guard
moisture.
