You and your family have rented an apartment and one or two problems

occurred. Write a letter to the landlord. Describe the problems and tell him what
you want him to do.
Dear Mr.Parker,

I am your tenant residing at C105, Richmond Street. As you know, I am staying here along with my
elderly parents for the past three years. Due to the wear-n-tear of tap and switches we are facing
inconvenience.

For instance, in master bedroom’s washroom, tap of sink and faucet pipe connector is leaking. I have
tried to get it fixed by a local plumber but still the leakage is reoccurring. Upon discussing with the
plumber, found the root case to be high water pressure as I stay at first floor of a multi storied
building.

In the Kitchen, switches of electric fitments are loose and wobbly. My mother is afraid she might get
electric shock one of these days.

As per our rental agreement, I am paying the maintenance. Hence, would request you to address
these issues at the earliest. As you rent out many of your apartments in the vicinity, could you please
send out your regular plumber and electrician to get this fixed.

Hoping for a prompt action from your side!

Yours sincerely,

John Doe

It is becoming increasingly popular to have a year off between finishing school

and going to university. What are the advantages and disadvantages of it?

In recent times, we witness many high schoolers taking a break from education before applying for
higher education. This behaviour of youngsters has its own merits and demerits. Benefits being
getting exposure to the outside world and drawbacks being some getting used to so much
independence that, they prefer it over university education.

For most high schoolers it has been only to focus on studies. They just follow the advice given by
parents, teachers, counsellors till now. However, when they take a break and focus on other worldly
experiences, one gets a clear understanding of their aspirations, goals and interests. Now it would be
much easier for them to make a selection of professional course in university on their areas of
interest. In addition to this, some utilize this time by working part-time. Thereby start earning, which
helps them generate their college fund.

On the other hand, some get so engrossed that they lose their focus and start getting involved in fun
and frolic activities. Some even get hooked into illegal and antisocial activities which would ruin they
future career prospectus. In a recent study conducted by XYZ University, it was observed that 13% of
these youngsters never return back to studies as they feel the independence and fun of earning
more lucrative than returning back to studies thereby jeopardising the future. Only to know later in
life as to what they have missed during their prime age.
To summarise, taking a short break from education has its advantages and disadvantages. How one
utilizes their time and effort solely depends on them. It would be best for an individual to take both
into consideration and plan accordingly.
