Procedure for obtaining solvency

certificate for current students

Thomas More offers you the option of a 'blocked account' as proof of solvency, under the conditions
described in this document. Please read this carefully and then sign it and return it to the student
administration.

Agreement
To start the application for a 'blocked account', you must read this agreement and deposit an amount
of 10,450 € into Thomas More's bank account.

BNP Paribas Fortis Warandeberg 3 1000 Brussels

Name of beneficiary: Thomas More Mechelen-Antwerp

Address of beneficiary: Zandpoortvest 60, 2800 Mechelen, Belgium

Account number: 230-0723301-89

SWIFT/BIC code: GEBABEBB

IBAN number: BE45 2300 7233 0189

Thomas More will immediately reserve the amount received under your name for your entire academic
year. An amount of 850€ will be transferred to your Belgian account every month, starting on 01/09/2023
and ending on 31/08/2024, in order to cover part of your daily costs.

This procedure has been agreed together with the Immigration Department of Belgium. They can assume
that you have sufficient financial resources and will not be dependent on the Belgian state. Since the
money has been reserved in your name, no interest is charged on it. The administrative cost is 250€ (this
is already included in the 10,450€ paid). This amount covers all administrative costs and services of
Thomas More relating to the 'blocked account' procedure.

In the event that your residence permit is not extended, you will have to deregister1and must contact the
financial department so that we can refund your money (-250€ administrative costs).

850€ is just enough to demonstrate your financial resources to the Belgian Embassy/municipality. We would
like to point out that this is not sufficient to cover all your living costs in Belgium. Please note that the
sufficient subsistence minimum is an amount set by the Belgian government and based on the academic
year 23/24. That amount could increase. If that is the case, we will inform you as soon as possible.

A refund can only be made to the bank account from where the money came from when you deposited it to
Thomas More .

Once Thomas More has received the requested amount, you will receive a 'financial certificate' as proof of
solvency, which you can then use to extend your residence permit. We would also like to point out that an
international transfer can take up to 10 days.
