1. Explain the elements of English communication.

For communication to succeed, both parties must be able to exchange information and understand each
other and the elements to communication are;

 The Sender
The communication process begins with the sender, who is called the communicator or source. The
sender has some kind of information that he or she wants to present to others.

 The Receiver
The person to whom a message is directed is called the receiver or interpreter. The receiver also is the
message recipient and must translate the word into thoughts, process the thoughts, and determine how to
respond to the sender.

 The Message
The message or content is the information that the sender wants to relay to the receiver. Additional
subtext can be conveyed through body language and tone of voice.

 The Medium
Also called the channel, the medium is the means by which a message is transmitted. Text messages, for
example, are transmitted through the medium of cell phones.

 Feedback
When the receiver has understood the message conveyed, the receiver will respond to the sender of the
message by indicating a response to reply the information.

2. Explain the types of English communication.

 Verbal
Verbal communication is the use of language to transfer information through speaking or sign language.
It is one of the most common types, often used during presentations, video conferences and phone calls,
meetings and one-on-one conversations. You can speak in verbal communication by a strong, confident
speaking voice, active listening and avoid filler words.

 Nonverbal
Nonverbal communication is the transmission of messages or signals through a nonverbal platform such
as eye contact, body language, gestures and facial expressions, posture to convey information to others.
Use of objects and body language.
