This research uses the constructivism paradigm with a qualitative research strategy as a framework

for understanding people-place relationship in the context of home-based enterprises. To analyze the
relationship formed by the interaction between the entrepreneurs and their environment, this
research starts from identifying the characteristics of home-based enterprises based on their physical
and social attributes. Factors are explored to understand the specific type of relationship that is used
as the basis for interpreting the concept of place attachment. Semi-structured in-depth interviews
supported by coding techniques are used to find the themes that construct the concept of place
attachment based on the entrepreneur’s perspective. The findings show that place attachment
concept in the context of home based enterprises was constructed by three specific themes. First is
a dependency relationship to the functional aspects of the home and neighborhood because it is
seen as a comfortable shelter and workplace. The second is an emotional bond that is a form of
attachment to daily routine and social setting where it is referred to place inherited. The latter is a
form of symbolic relationship where the characteristic of the neighborhood which its branding as
Kampung Kerupuk used to define a specific person or community that plays a role in supporting the
development of the family business, this relationship is known as place identity. Those three specific
relationships show that place attachment in the context of home-based enterprise is a
multidimensional concept that is constructed by a holistic understanding of the inseparable physical
and social context in a certain setting.
